Parking Sensors

Hi all

Just go my 56 plate 2.2 ex yesterday and very happy with car apart from a couple of teething niggles....

This is the 2nd and final niggle that hopefully someone may have also encountered or can advise of a solution.....

I have parking sensors fitted to the car (Honda fitted) and when using these in reverse the volume is not too loud.... Can the volume be increased in anyway so that you can hear the beeps with the radio on etc or do I have to install a new type of parking sensors with better acoustics......?

Many thanks for your assistance.

Not that I know off. Just keep the radio quit is my advise. The dealer told us they are not loud.

Shame I can't do a swap, I've got the non Honda ones (fitted as new at delivery by a Honda dealer) and my siren is under the dash somewhere and is far too loud.

I've tried locating it with the intention of putting a piece of tape over it to dumb it down a bit, but can I find it.............I've been under there with it going off, but I think I need to employ a piece of tube as I can't see it.

I would think that you should be able to change yours with another louder one, surely it's just a 12v mini siren?

My buzzer is located in the boot to one side behind the cover and it is loud enough to be heard from outside the car. I have thought about getting a different buzzer from Maplins.

Hi All

Dealer has advised that sensors are working correctly and that the volume is as per Honda specifications and cannot be increased.

I am disappointed that nothing can be done to increase the volume as in order to hear the sensors you have to switch fans, radio and music off etc.

The dealer very kindly advised that I could as an option install parking camera at the cost of £630. To date I have not taken them up on their offer as I am considering contacting Honda Uk to review the policy of supplying goods in their vehicles that are not fit for purpose in that they cannot be heard under normal driving conditions which would include use of fans, music etc.

I will update everyone to the comments from Honda Uk in due course as the sensors are technically useless unless other car features are not used.

regards

ooo...the 08 civic has or can now have, parking sensors fitted from the factory...not from the dealer...one of the most significant changes from 07.

Hi Bikersupermoto

My location advises that I am from Glasgow Scotland and therefore I am proudly Scottish and British......

I'll certainly go to my Gp for a hearing aid and I suggest you visit the opticians for some glasses to help with reading - only kidding ha ha ha...

Regards

I also need to turn stuff off/down to hear mine clearly, yet my next-door-but-two neighbour's beeper sounds quite loud in comparison.
