oooh, your car would be down to the primer in under 5 minutes

I dont think it's quite that bad but I hope they have been a bit more generous with the paint on the 08 models

I'm now a fully fledged member of the stone chip club.

I got quite a bad one after about 2 months of ownership. It also dinked the metal - so touching it up is difficult.

There have been others (small thankfully) that have disappeared following touch up.

Washed the car today, and low and behold another one!

Honda really need to sort the paint issue - its unacceptable. My moms car (a Seat) is 6 months older and done thousands more miles - no stone chips at all. I leave a huge gap between me and the car in front and do few motorway miles.

My Alabaster Silver Civic looks patchy in electric light - the paint actually looks thin!

On previous cars I used to find silver is a right pain to touch up. What's it like on yours?

Mixed - some end up darker, some end up lighter.

Its a pain as my previous car was a EP3 Type R in Nighthawk Black, and I went for a silver one this time because I thought it would be easier to touch up - WRONG!!!

At least you dont see the swirl marks on a silver car - the NHB was terrible for that.

Yes I can imagine, that is the advantage of a silver car, it is very easy to keep clean.

CTR is going in to dealership on the 26th of this month, don't know what they are going to do about the chips yet just hope the bonnet has a complete respray. I'm getting a courtesy car for a couple of days so maybe it is a respray.

I didn't worry about stone chips, but had a great big rock land on the roof yesterday!!

My 8 year old daughter moved a large stone off the drive and asked if she could throw it over the wall into the garden so it was away from our cars. Of course I said yes thinking she can't do any damage.

She swung the rock and instead of letting go to let it sail over the small wall she threw it over her shoulder, time went into slow motion and next thing thud landed on the roof of my lovely civic!! Of course I went mad and went straight for the polish and chip repair and luckily the car was so dirty only a few smallish scratches were visible.

Children and stones do not mix!!! BEWARE!

Years ago when I got my first focus, I had only had it for a while an my brother went out to the front of the house and asked what was on my car door, then as he walked around the car he was saying "oh its on every panel" !! My daughter (who was about 4 at the time) had drawn her signature of heart, flower and star on every panel with a stone !!!!

My brother spent the next couple of hours t cutting and waxing my new car while I sat an cried, every single mark came out - that is how good the paint was, if she had done it to the civic (not only would I have been shocked as she is now 12 lol) there is no way the pretty patterns would have come out.

On the other hand, Topcat, the Civic would have been so covered in whorls, scratches and chips already, you probably wouldn't have noticed.

I'm beginning to wonder if I should sign the finance agreement now......

I've just placed an order for the 2.2 Type S GT in Deep Bronze Pearl! Anyone got a Type S GT in this colour? Can you confirm whether stone chips is an issue for you?

Hope Honda decided to put a few more coats on the '08 models

There is no information to suggest paint is improved on 08 cars.
