Round about 10 minutes/2 miles here (through built up area).
For some reason though, I only get warm air for a while, then it's blasts of cold air (Honda's method for waking drivers up maybe?). I've noticed that I only get warm air back if I have at least 15 degrees difference between outside temp and the temperature set for A/C. |

Very quick, couple of mins at max.
Will be interesting to see when it get really cold. MUCH faster than my other car... but then that has silly ammounts of fluid and metal to heat up. |

This morning, -2C on outside gauge, after 10 minutes and about 5 miles, arrived at the office - temperature gauge not moved off cold stop (not even to bottom of scale), and windscreen still trying to freeze up from freezing fog. No heat of any significance from blower at all.
My other two diesel cars are much better than this! |

Diesels are efficient engines not producing much heat - in norway diesel cars frequently have an additinal heater fitted.
This can be the explanation - your other cars have heaters. |

My old Golf 140 TDi sounded like a tractor and would have hot air just as I left the estate.
My new Type S GT does take twice the distance. It's obviously a lot more fuel efficient. I don't mind waiting the extra time. |

This morning (-4 DegC) our diesel took about 5 mins and 2 miles, I really miss the heated windscreen in our previous Focus though - don't care what anyone says about the 'lines in the screen', it's worth its weight in gold this time of the year.
I also noticed that a patch of screen just above the LHS wiper doesn't de-ice with the blower - guess it's too low down ? Oh for a heated screen..... |

Unfortunately I start the morning trip with a 2 km descent, so I don't use any fuel nor get any heat before the road flats out, hence you beat me with three minutes. |

Actually one does (but not working at present) - and the other doesn't - but both quite a lot faster to warm up than the Civic.
I have never seen any evidence that the claimed PTC electric heater works in my Civic. Does anyone know how one can tell? |

well i suppose its all to do with how your driving the car!
for some people who are taking it easy and keeping below a certain rpm it could take 10 mins or so, but for others who are revving the nuts off the engine even when cold it will be warm in a min! when driving my own cars it usually takes a while cos im not a fan of revving cold engines. but when in work vehicles (usually a diesel) (and i dont care about the health of the car) i just drive it basically on the limiter and its warm in 30 seconds. i suppose it depends weather your willing to sacrifice a bit more engine wear for a bit of warm air! but to be honest i just go and start the car a couple of minutes before i leave in the morning. and by the time i get out there its just started kicking out warm air. i know its not good for the environment but i leave for work at 6am, i just cant handle getting into a car that cold! |

Takes 5 mins to start warming up even when below 3deg. I have been driving for nearly 50 years and without doubt this is the best heating system I have had in a car, just put is on Auto and leave it. We have temp at 20 deg in winter and 19 deg in summer, works a treat.
