Hi,
Just gotten back from my dealer with my 14 odd day old Type S, they have replaced the Civic badge which was coming off after 2 days under warranty (I also gleefully pointed out that the two in their showroom, a 5 door and a Type S both needed new badges as well How is this already a problem on a Brand new car????? Anyhow, whilst there I asked a couple of routine questions: >How do I check the oil (it's not easy to see on a new engine), >What oil do I use (they said '5W30' [which is what they sell in the shop], I said oh so my 4 bottles of 0W30 is no good, oh no thats far better to use if you can!!!!!?????), >Does my car have the double deadlocking that is enabled by the double-click feature, yes it does, fine then. >And can you check if my rear bumper strips are on right [they arn't and Honda is being informed], they did and whilst chatting to the mechanic (who was none too complimentary about Civic/Honda forums in general), he mentioned oh didn't you have Honda fit your RP sensors????, Yes, I replied why???? Because they arn't Honda ones!!! They are EX-Vision [or some such name] ones, thye're good, around 260 pounds [ Anyone think I'm overreacting???? Over reactining - NO
Burn - YES Was the mechanic from the same place as delivered your car? (And therefore fitted non Honda sensors). Don´t forget to write a dealer review in the Wiki |

1. You can reject the car due to its faults (Quite hard to do)
2. Refund the difference between Honda and Dealer fit PS 3. CONTACT HONDA AND REPORT THE DEALERSHIP 4. I usually use the dip stick to check the oil |

Hi,
Thanks for confirming i'm not overreacting totally, I'm thinking it's more along the lines of Fraud???? Taking money for something but supplying a cheaper product without informing the customer, although there is a reason apparently in the the sensors don't work well on the Honda ones when fitted with the bump strip (which I think is total B*ll*cks, Honda wouldn't spend millions developing something for it not to work, or would they??) Anyway it's the principal of the thing, I'm going to push for some compensation, like a free spare wheel and kit and some other Honda bits, like a warning triangle, first aid kit, spare bulbs and a Type R (maybe a bit hopeful on the last one No, it was a mechanic in Canterbury, where I'm at Uni' (and so I can't warrant driving 70-80+ miles home to the dealer, to stick on a new badge, but I'm tempted to have a word on Friday/Saturday!). Once this is sorted out the dealer will definatley be getting a write up, oh and I'm still waiting for my Honda Happiness Service stuff to come through (they've had my 500 almost 2 weeks now and nothing has arrived....). [Additional They've through my HH plan to my home address, and managed to spell my name completely wrong, father had an argument this afternoon with them over it.] Tom Last edited by Unknownsoldier; 1st November 2007 at 20:25. |

2.Is more likely what I'd want or the refund in extra's, i.e triangle, bulb kit, speakers etc. 3.Definately will do if they don't sort it, and something I will threaten to do at every opportunity. 4. I know, but the oil is virtually clear, and I do have the eyesight of an aging mole..... Thanks, Tom |

Gordon Bennett Tom, it is like a Whitehall Farse.
No mate, you are not over reacting, as I would have been climbing up the bl--dy showroom wall. |

It is quite INCREDIBLE to me that Honda are STILL fitting both shock absorbers and bump stops etc that they KNOW, and have known for 18 months are regularly faulty.
It sums up the present Honda UK - POOR QUALITY, DREADFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE Why - for goodness sake doesn't Japan fire someone there and get in some good old fashioned Honda Japan quality??? |

No - I don't expect it is a safety issue. I've had two new sets so far - and apart from the noise - there's not much difference. Its a QUALITY issue. Fit lousy cheap components, hope the owner won't notice or complain - but replace them if he does. Works out cheaper than fitting decent ones in the first place. I have had two really well made Hondas, both made overseas - now I've got this - a UK thrown together rattlebox! And Honda UK couldn't give a monkeys - they have been paid, and if they have to keep reluctantly changing bits until the warranty expires its mainly the dealers problem. My dealer is pretty helpful, but Honda UK really do need someone from SENIOR management in Japan to come - and inject some Japanese quality - and eject some present management/quality assurance!

Makes this thread even more laughable http://www.civinfo.com/forum/general...und-hatch.html Still least you got that three year warranty eh As for the sensors get straight on to the dealership that fitted them and demand an explanation and a refund! |

I can understand the original posters anger and what other people are saying on this thread
However Why is it then that the majority of owners do not have any problems?? The parts are not cheap it is just that the company Honda has contracted to make the part has done it wrong AGAIN !!! ( it does seem that it is only the civic that has had these issues as the other car made in Swindon is Solid 3 months down the line I have not had one issue) and it seems that not having a good dealer had made the situation worse Before you all start having ago at me it is fact I only deal in the facts yes there are owners who have issues and although it is no comfort to you you are in the minority there are far more unhappy focus owners c - class owners 1 series owners 3 series owners golf owners than there are Honda Civic Owners |

According to the dealer the noise is most of the time not enough to get anyone to bother complaining. But I am it seems picky. He said if some one were slighlty deaf they'd never have noticed it..... thats not the point though it shouldn't be there to notice.

Unknown,
Sorry to hear you're having trouble. I'd stay calm and pleasant, and work with the dealer to get the rattly bits replaced. And I'd go for a full refund on the parking sensors, or replacement with OEM ones and a solid "sorry" (like a couple of free services). Try to find out exactly what you have got, and get HUK on your side. The sensors may have only cost £30 or so: http://www.civinfo.com/forum/buying/...r-rip-off.html |
