First service...

Soon to go collect my Civic after its 12.5k service.

Should be interesting to see how Amethyst Gloucester handle this. I posted in the dealer section of the Wiki about my displeasure with them ignoring maintenance requests before (on my old Civic) & not being on the ball enough to fix warranty issues quickly... this time there is a Civinfo.com sticker on the tailgate that they can't fail to notice.

In addition to the service I have asked them to take a look at:

1) Rear view mirror not squarely fixed to windscreen (doesn't move but it is hanging off on one side of the mount);
2) Rear view camera intermittently fails showing only black screen (ignition all the way off & on again usually sorts this);
3) Aircon blowing cold after longer period of driving (30-45 mins);
4) Rattle in tailgate when opening/closing, like a loose screw;
5) Condensation in rear light housing;
6) A slight knock from front on reverse-turn.

They also had identified that:

7) I need another new improved spring for the fuel flap (mine already works fine so I won't be happy if they screw it up!);
8 ) ...& some modification on the drivers door handle.

They had the car from 8.30am so anybody want to guess at how many of the 8 things will actually get done along with the service? I wonder if the Civinfo sticker will get me better results?

The Jazz I have as a courtesy car... good build quality but horrendously sluggish. Defo not for me but maybe for my dad!

I would guess at:

1) Rear view mirror not squarely fixed to windscreen (doesn't move but it is hanging off on one side of the mount); Maybe
2) Rear view camera intermittently fails showing only black screen (ignition all the way off & on again usually sorts this); Hopefully a loose wire, fixed when they do 4). But more likely to get a report of "couldn't reproduce!"
3) Aircon blowing cold after longer period of driving (30-45 mins); doubtful, unless its a loose connection on the pipe as identified by the "fag paper test" (copyright Pottsy )
4) Rattle in tailgate when opening/closing, like a loose screw; should manage this one! Especially as it was probably them who dropped the loose clip when installing the camera...
5) Condensation in rear light housing; fingers crossed for new light units sans hole
6) A slight knock from front on reverse-turn. might get new dampers or bump stops...

good luck!

and hope they don't do 7)

If they are anything like Amethyst in Chippenham I wouldn't hold out much hope if I were you!

Pleasantly surprised!

1) Rear view mirror not squarely fixed to windscreen (doesn't move but it is hanging off on one side of the mount);

SORTED

2) Rear view camera intermittently fails showing only black screen (ignition all the way off & on again usually sorts this);

They pulled all the wiring & reconnected everything so we'll see - can't ask more than that.

3) Aircon blowing cold after longer period of driving (30-45 mins);

Recalibrated aircon/climate control so wait & see - not expecting much here cos I understand from this forum that it's a known issue with no fix as yet. Odd they didn't say so tho...

4) Rattle in tailgate when opening/closing, like a loose screw;

They have ordered a new interior panel - waiting on a call in a week.

5) Condensation in rear light housing;

They say condensation is acceptable - if water actually collects rather than disperses then they will change the units.

6) A slight knock from front on reverse-turn.

Bump stop was loose - been tightened.

They also had identified that:

7) I need another new improved spring for the fuel flap (mine already works fine so I won't be happy if they screw it up!);

They confirmed that the spring I had is indeed the most recent fix.

8 ) ...& some modification on the drivers door handle.

SORTED

They had the car from 8.30am but I finally got the car back at 5.45pm (30 mins wait) - the free coffee helped.

They didn't have time to valet so I have been invited to go in at my leisure to give them half an hour to have a clean... I am just glad they have addressed everything this time so quite happy. Not sure if the improvement this time was because of the Civinfo sticker or the new servicing bloke I dealt with... altho he couldn't get the bill right 1st off. He'd told me on the phone yesterday £175, then tried to charge me a few pence off £190 which he dropped to £176 when I pointed it out.

Also got a litre of oil in a neat case with velcro straps to fix to insdie of spare wheel bay which is a nice touch.

Oh yeah, I put some revs in the Jazz on the way back to the dealer - upgraded my view from "might do for dad" to "might do for wife"... certainly still will not do for me...

Sounds good, the only thing I'd say is that £175 seems dear, I paid £169 all in last Saturday for a first service (£145) plus they fitted a new foglight which I supplied (£21 =VAT)

I'm not going to be too bothered by a few quid difference. Twas more convenient than a trip to another dealer, & considering I did not buy the car from my local dealer... no relationship with them to smooth the bills, just a brief history of their service being poor.

Wasn't going to risk anyone else to service it either... a colleague has just had his Espace melt its cylinders after a visit to one of our great country's servicing chains...

I think £30 is a little more than a few quid difference.

Depends on if you can be bothered driving the x miles further, wasting x amount of time, to save a few quid. You pays your money............

Angry fuel flap

Just had my first service. Fuel flap worked fine before doesn't work at all now

Only had 17 miles left to run, so after a 2 man effort at the petrol station we eventually managed to open it.

Hope my drivers door handle that they also fixed (that wasn't broken) keeps working too!

Also my first service. The only remark I had was a clogged overflow in the fuel filler compartment leading to the accumulation of rain water. A day after having picked up my car I noticed that the windshield washer pump was dead so I called the dealer because I was unable to locate a fuse for the pump in the manual. According to him both the wiper and the pump were wired to the same fuse so if the wiper worked that meant that the pump motor was dead. When I asked him if I could slightly tap on the motor to check for a stuck brush he told me that the motor was hidden behind the front bumper and that he would replace it next week.
Well, if that's the case, better to leave it to the dealer to sort it out...

Do you know what they did to your inner door handle as mine needs fixing as part of the recall to, but they weren't forthcoming about what they were going to be doing.....
