[Bodywork] Boot Struts ??

Noticed the last few times I've opened the boot that it takes an age to open itself.
It used to go straight up on its own (The boot that is LOL!!.)
Cant find if this is a common problem or its just mine?
Any advice??

sadly it is one of the known faults. Some stealers will try and pap you off with the old "strut needed grease" but I had mine replaced under warranty

My boot is a lot easier to shut when it is raining - when dry it is all to easy to only shut the boot to the intermediate click

Considering the weight of all that glass and the size of the boot itself it must be very heavy. Honda should have fitted stronger rams in the first place. Another under-engineered point I feel.

My boot doesn't rise when it's cold, say less then 5C, which I understand is a common fault,it also requires a good push to shut sometimes, I noticed yesterday that when it opens the struts seem to go "CRACK" when the boot rises, quite loudly, I tried a few times, and each time "CRACK" Also where the piston rises out of the strut, the surface along this top appears rough, and like it's rusting, the car is just over 7 months old, and has covered just under 10,000 miles, so it's due to go in for a service in a couple of months (12,500) has anybody else had similar problems with loud "CRACK" noises

Brodrick

As a serious question are the stuts much more substantial on the CRV?

Now not so serious. My Civic sqeeks less and the boot opens freely when it is raining. There is more rain in Scotland than Kent so that explains the less / none of the annoying problems of your mum's car.
