I do have a garage but it isnt big enough for the civic as part of it has been turned into a utility room off the kitchen. Otherwise I would use it.

Why should I put a brick under a wheel when every other person in the street gets on with what I would class as a "normal" task without the need for security back up or a huge cover on the car !!

What I would really like is a "normal" car that doesnt require the need of special instructions.

You could put the brick through the windscreen, ice gone in next to no time.

I have an '07 plate 2.2, but I have had no letter. Having read through this thread, I think I should be due a letter.

Is anyone else still waiting for their one?

Matt - have you done the survey? It looks like 40% of people are not getting the letter.

Of those who have had the letter, 16% have had the handbrake fly off.
Of those who have not had the letter, 10% have had the handbrake fly off.

It is clearly not the case that the letter has only been sent to owners of cars with a potential problem.

I've been into my dealers today and mentioned my letter, all I got was blank looks. Until one brave soul said he had heard about it, but as we already know Honda don't quite know what to do about it yet.

I bet he got the sack after I left!!

Still no letter here.

Something still bugs me about this whole thing though...

New cars are tested over and over again and then some to make sure (as best as possible) they run fault free for years. I'm also pretty certain tests are done specifically on the handbrake and I refuse to believe that a major manufacturer like Honda would sell a car on which they knew parts were suspect and down the line could cost them lots of money.

There has to be more to it than simple faults that would have been picked up on long before the car went on sale.

This was ongoing before I brought my car so if Honda knew about it I would of expected to be warned about it before i drove it away as it does come down to a safety issue. It would be interesting to find out if they are advising any new customers about this or just send them a letter after the event

So for the first time in 24 years of owning a car I had to de-ice the car with the engine off which was highly annoying as usually the rear screen would be melted by the time the other windows are done (and with my old car both screens would be melted) I am seriously regretting buying this car!!
How sad

Let me explain. had my beauty since May and it has been and is wonderful including the I-shift which is as smooth as silk so all I`m saying is in your case it`s a shame that you have`nt experienced how good they can be. and as a footnote all the local ones in this area that I know of have been trouble free and are much loved.

I can't think of anything more likely to infuriate than someone saying 'mine's perfect' to someone whose similar product is appalling.
