I luv you too TC

There is obviously some sort of an issue but it would appear that most cars are not affected ( This makes it difficult to confirm what the actual problem is)

It is in the new Highway code and if you are seen by an officer you could be in for a telling off, a fine or even points on your license

maybe in vikingland FWH but not here ( I would think if Irish boy, I mean copper boy aka CZ was around he would confirm this)

Will try to remember that next time I am over.
Would never do it an in urban area - that is like asking for having your car nicked...

Hey Broders seeing as you have an answer for everything.....

What about the post on the other handbrake thread? The one where the guy says he was sitting at traffic lights and his handbrake failed!!!

I know I bet it says somewhere we should turn our engines off whilst waiting at junctions and lights

Handbrake safety recall/advice!!!!

I've just had my official Honda handbrake operating instructions delivered by recorded post.

Apparently they've identified a problem with the handbrake releasing itself, what, no!!!

I suppose most of us will have received this letter today, mine turned up with my customer satisfaction survey form. Good timing there then Honda!!

I have just done an online check with Honda and it says there is no outstanding recall on my car.

No mention on VOSA either..

Reading on past posts and from experiences of a freind of mine (her handbrake released itself her civic ended up in a picket hedge) I understand that there have been some problems with a few handbrakes.

It was one of my concerns that I raised with the dealer when I was buying the car and he said it only happened to women and drivers who where used to automatics ( i presume becase there is a lack of parking gear on the i-shift)

Well I suppose it is good to know that they have admitted there being a problem with the system and that they are going to sort it out. I'll have to let me friend know as she was told by the dealer that it was probably her fault for not putting on strong enough.

We've got to wait until March/April next year for the updated handbrake. The letter says they will write again then to get it fitted.

Yep - letter arrived today.

I wonder if the official fix will be the same as Citroens?

They remove the first few ratchet notches so that you need a left arm like Arnold Schwarzenegger to get it onto the first one.
