I am sure most, if not all Honda dealers, will replace the handbrake on a while you wait basis. I did. No problems.

Mine took about an hour - I waited for mine, but used up half the time with a test drive of a Type R

And it was really good

Cracking engine and acceleration and I didnt realise a 4 cylinder engine could sound so good.

But no, I wont be buying one at the moment - only had the CTS 15 months - maybe something to consider in a couple of years.

Had mine replaced yesterday, took about two hours or so to wait (read newspapers, mags, chatted with sales people etc. so it was not a boring time..)

I had mine done on Friday
Its MUCH tighter and only pulls up an inch or two, instead of 6" before.
Much more reassuring...But I always leave it in gear anyway!!

No better way of passing the time in my opinion. Good thinking.

Anyone on here have access to any case histories (I'm trying but I don't think as a humanities student I get access to these DB's). Just had a thought I wonder if we could bring up the known fault on the Citroen Xantia, that caused a lot of bother and IIRC a courtcase over the disc brake system not accounting for the cooling and subsequently releasing the handbrake.

It would have been around 1993 IIRC.

No sorry, I'm not sure where you can get hold of this information. There was also a handbrake problem with Alfas too, as my sisters car rolled down here drive and wrecked her car. Mines being fixed today.

One of my colleagues used to have a Citroen BX (the predecessor to the Xantia), and his ran away once or twice, due to brake cooling.

Can't remember where I heard it, but I think some of the Citroens used to work their handbrake off the front discs, where the heating/cooling effect is much more pronounced.

Yes, long before I was converted to Honda, I ran a Citroen GS. I seem to recollect the handbrake (an odd affair) activated on the front discs.

Well not had a look on here for a while, Glad to see that Honda actually started sending out letters inviting owners to get the new handbrakes. Mine was done back in April and "touch wood" is alot better I still don't touch the button and leave it in gear I dont even leave it running now on the drive when I hop out to shut the gate behind me on the drive. After the damaged that was done I won't be risking it new hand brake or not!! As for the colour of it yes mines is a slightly different shade. Also the movement yes it does move slightly when not applied but alot less than it did before.
My door handle well I asked for this to be looked at when the handbrake was done and was told it had already been sorted but it is becoming very sticky so will be getting that looked at again!

Intresting to see that the early recalled hanbrakes are being changed again I did wonder if they would be. Seeing as I was told the first batch of handbrakes were not up to scratch and more were being made hense why we had to wait a bit longer.

Had my CTR done last week. Much shorter travel for the handle and the ratchet is loud by comparisom to the old one.

Yes I collected my brand-new civic from my local dealer in Cannock west midlands got it home and parked it on my drive witch as a slope down to my house. I just got to the front of the car when I heard a click and my civic rolled forward and I got pinned against my garage door.

If your drive has a slope leave the car in gear, end of problem. I leave my car in gear even if it is parked on level ground, rather be safe than sorry

Wow, a frightening experience, but one which hopefully will not reoccur. I can only reiterate what dave525 has to say. It could have been a lot, lot, worse. Hope you enjoy your new set of wheels.
