Is that 26 December when the spy shots will be published. Nice big wheel arches at the front, but it does look like its going to have some hideous, low body kit. But we will just have to wait until the 'official' pictures to see what its going to look like.

Exactly what I'm predicting. You'd probably be better off buying a ST and a spending a couple of grand modding it with the help of established companies like Graham Goode - rather than an extra £5k to £7k on the RS!

Though I'm going to reserve judgment until full details about the RS are released!

The Original RS Turbo and the like were great cars (although go over a hundred and they bounced a lot, oh and got nicked and raced on a regualr basis, at least my mums one did).

I had an ST for work one day - took it to Somerset.

By GOD what a car! The A303 at 6am with 225bhp on tap! But I couldn't deal with the 18mpg! I think it was on about 6-8 when I was in traffic!

when i went in the ford garage the salesman tryed telling me that i could get nearly 30mpg from an st! i just didnt believe him, as i only got 20-25mpg from my prelude and now ive been getting only 36-38mpg from my 2.2 civic!!!!!!!!!

so god knows what i would have been paying out in fuel for an st!

I took an ST for a test drive early this year and it was a 'nice' drive. I like the interior as well, with it being nice and comfortable, but the MPG is a turn off. 25mpg is mad with petrol prices the way they are.

I've also driven the Civic Type S GT twice and the only thing thats stopping me buying one is 'quality'. Sorry if this offends, but if I'm paying 17k for a car I don't expect to have it covered in stone chips and the dash covered in scratches within the first few months. This is well covered on the forums and appears to be a real bug bear for a lot of owners. If it wasn't for this I'd be driving one now as I love the interior and handling. Maybe I'll wait for used prices to drop so I can factor in a re-spray.

Just need to find a car to replace my Octavia vRS now. Any ideas ?

Defo don't opt for a CTR then, been advised by the garage that the paint on the CTR is thinner than the other Civic models, which I find hard to believe and you get about 27mpg (on a good day)

Would have been a Type S diesel. The Type R ride is too hard (so I hear), and my ass don't fit in the bucket seats very well

Gutted to be honest as the Civic dash is so cool.

I don´t think that is technically possible seeing how thin it is on the other Civics.

And why, saving weight?

I think you are right not believing it..

It'll be interesting to see how much the mpg goes up once the weather warms up, I'm getting about 27-28 mpg too.

Best advise I can give........Yep,2.2 Civic type S.Can only speak from my experiences, but on my second Civic(type S) and not had probs with either dash scratches or paint chips(ok,the odd stone chip but nothing more than with previous cars)

This car is the best I've had to date, delight to own and drive

I seem to be going around in circles, with the Civic being top of the list, followed by a Leon FR TDI and a Mondeo ST TDCI (yes it's Mondeo but it's a damn good one).

The Civic paint and dash put me off, but I could get the Type R dash fitted as part of any deal if I mention it could be a deal breaker. Nothing I can do about the paint tho.

The Leon is good and about 2k cheaper but rock ard ride and interior is average.

Mondeo has loads of torque and is very comfy with Recaro seats, but even at 15k for a year old one, saving 8k off new, it'll loose at least 5-6k in the next 2 years.

The ST popped it's name on the list now and again, thinking the money saved over the above diesels will fund the fuel bills, but I found my sensilbe head and crossed it off.

I'm off to the pub now. Prob talk about cars

Merry christmas all.

First post Hi!

actually my soon to be going V6 CDTI Vectra has 400nm and hardly ever wheelspins, mind you if that's lb/ft it might be a different matter. The superchipped Civic 2.2 puts out 433nm BTW.
