Paid a good price for a Civic?
My Mum has just ordered a new Civic 1.8 EX with Honda Happiness 5 Year Service Plan, Mats and Bluetooth in Metallic Black.
List price is £17410 Arranged to get rid of the 2000 Bora at the parkers book trade price of £1650. Including the part-ex she has agreed £16105, so a discount of £1305 (7.5%). Is this a decent price or could we have done much better? It's a cash buy with no finance, with a very quick delivery (3 days). Cheers guys. |

If it's the car you want, when you want it, then why worry (esp. after the event) if you could have saved an extra few hundred or not.
If it's an 07 Model Year car, then you prob could have done a bit better by trolling around, but only you know (or your mother) whether it would have been worth the extra agro. Welcome to the forum, I'm sure you and your mum will enjoy the Civic, and there'll be lots of help available on here if you need it. |

Hi Felix and welcome to the forum, like Humbermart says you could spend a few weeks now looking at prices and comparing deals, but you'll just drive yourself mad. Seems like a good deal to me, best to not look now and enjoy your car when you get it.

Every price is good - if it's not good for the buyer then it's good for the seller
Seriously: it doesn't sound bad for Honda, you can get larger rebates for other brands (esp. French ones) but the big surprise comes later (in terms of bugs, bugs, bugs...) |

Just had a quick look on drive the deal again to see and seems shes paid around £100 less than the price they quote, so seems pretty good. Either way it makes no difference as she tends to keep cars 7 years.

To put it in to context, you could have gone for the outgoing Ford Focus and paid around £2-3000 less but in 7 years time, you would suffer the horrendous depreciation. In the meantime you would have suffered the horrendous ownership experience. All in all if the price seems good to your mum and she has the car she wants then its all good and believe me the new Civic is all good. Some of people on here have unfortunately suffered niggles and teething problems but as a die hard Honda fan (like most on here) I can tell you that you won’t be disappointed.
Be careful of the online sellers as many cars offered are imported and are not UK spec, and are not covered by a UK warranty. This is why they sell at a discounted price. Welcome to the forum and happy motoring Last edited by Civic Fan; 28th December 2007 at 21:16. |

Paid a good price for a Civic?
Just ordered a red 2.2 EX for March 1. It is an 08 model, cost of £17700 (Retail £18667)to include mats and Superguard. Got in just before the Jan 1 price increase so I'm pretty happy. Took a bit of haggling and had to walk away before from the showroom before I got what I wanted but got there in the end. Cheers

Hope you enjoy it. You should always walk out once, if you haven´t walked out, you are paying too much! |

That does sound like a good price Gary T. FWH is right too. I popped in to see about my new Civic just on the off chance. That was on the Saturday, by the following Tuesday I had a call from the dealer asking if I was still interested and by the next day I had agreed a deal. Also got a good partex price on my old car (best of any dealer/online broker).

Thanks for the feedback. Being new to Honda it's great to see the enthusiasm owners have for the Civic. Until recently I drove a Passat but with rising fuel prices I wanted to get something which was more economical, easier to drive and park and also a bit of fun. It was written off for me which accelerated me making a decision on changing it. I'm sure I've made the right choice and am looking forward to March. Happy New Year all!

Don’t forget the all important check list when you go to collect the car. Do a search on here if you haven’t already got it. The salesman’s face was a picture when I pulled it out and started wandering around the car. The check list that is!!

Thanks for the advice, I'll make sure I do that. I know the car will be there well before March 1 so I'll probably do my own PDI the week before. That gives them time to sort any probs out and then I can get on and enjoy it on the day. I'm using my wife's car to get around until then so she can't wait either.
