Your only a customer until you hand over the money. And then you are forgotten, as most dealers do...

that is shocking service! mine came with a full tank of diesel.

I'm afraid Dan that its not you that's wrong - its Honda that is the problem. My wife is seeing so many problems (still not sorted) and visits back to the dealer that any Honda is now a no no.

This is our 19th brand new car and I have not had any trouble with previous new cars since I foolishly bought a Vauxhall back in the 1980s. In the last few years with Fords we only ever went to the garage once each year for a service.

Bouquet of flowers, box of chocolates, and a bottle of cava in the boot.
Oh, and the usual full tank of diesel, and mats and mudflaps.

Have to admit to having follow up phone calls asking if everything was ok, any complaints etc, and thanking me for buying with them. In fact when Honda phoned up asking for my assessment of the dealers, you had to give Excellent,Very Good etc, I answered very good to everything and my missus said, I'd have given them Excellent for everything!. To date, I can't fault my dealers, but they are brand new to the area, so probably out to impress, and are very much a family concern. My wife has almost adopted the salesman! I guess one of the perks of living in the sticks is there isn't much passing trade, if they get a customer they have to look after them. Previously I had 4 Seat Leons on the trot, and if I ever had a problem, it was bring it in, we'll look at it straight away, and it never came back without being washed and cleaned.

Can we get this straight please!!

A full tank is not a freebie - it is part of the on the road price! Stop giving your dealer credit for something you have paid for!

In fairness ‘apemonkeyman’ and while I admire your 'enthusiastic' point of view, my Honda purchase was not a new car and therefore the OTR suggestion you make is not valid in my case.

So the full tank of juice in my case WAS a freebie...

... and on that note, I also remember now them giving me a years free road tax. They didn't tax the car, they just reduced the purchase price by £115.00 so that I could spend the rest on tax but I had to bargain hard for that!

So...
· Vino
· Juice
· Tax
Not too bad I suppose...

I stand corrected...

Still, even if I bought a nearly new car & had to make my 1st stop a petrol station I would be rather p*ssed off.

I got brilliant service from City Honda Basingstoke, from the first Honda I bought from them to the last, my Civic.
This is preferable to me than any 'freeby'.
Regards
Tony

But if it´s possible to get both? Brilliant service and freebies? Doesn´t have to be one or the other.
