Obviously not but as I work in a Honda dealership, I know that there isnt a £4k margin in most sales as Shoulin infers.

Is that a honda owned dealership or a franchise? If you work for a honda owned dealerhsip there is little profit compared to a private franchise. Or so I have been told.

I was advised as a rule of thumb that most franchise dealerhsips look to make 4k on each sale. This can differ from each dealership and model. It is an average estimate given to me buy a dealer principle.

Does your sale manager know how much the mark up is on type r? Its usually the Dealer principle and the directors that have the buying and mark up info, and do not disclose that to anyone, not even the sales manager-- apparently.

Oh no not again lol. More profit debate!

All I will say is that IF they do make £4k (which I can't see) they better start giving bottles of "Krug" or "Don Perigon" as gifts! I didn't get a jot apart from a car dirty above the wheel arches and a rubbish keyring advertising the dealer.

Like I said previously. The 4k mentioned is a rule of thumb for any new car from a private dealership. This info was given to me buy a dealership principle, in passing convo.(so dont shoot the messenger if you dont agree).

This is without the standard PDI's, road tax, full tank of petrol, and other expendature that need to be covered by the dealership. Their not in sales to make as little as possible.

My personal opinion is that car manufactures selling price is far higher than cost to make. Like most items. And lets not forget the 17.5% TAX.

Wouldn't shoot you down mate. I actually agree with you, they do make plenty I'm sure, and sometimes I feel the aftercare/service doesn't always reflect that. I have found it seems once they have got your money they aren't as keen to help.

I also agree that cars are very expensive nowadays but I guess the fact that the civic's do come with quite a bit standard kit is better value than some other makes, even if they still rattle and are painted with poster paint!

Nice car by the way!

No probs **, just took it the wrong way.
I havnt had any probs with dealer SO FAR. but my front passenger speaker has become muffled, so I'm heading down there Saturday, so I'll see how it goes.

To be honest im a bit dissapointed with the toys in the car, in comparisions to my m8s new Focus ST2. But the civic is alot better looking.
No rattles so far, fingers crossed. But my paint is terrible, Think your right it could be poster paint. What colour do you have?

What questions would they be then?

I can assure you that either before or after pdi's, qc's, first reg fees, rfl, tanks of fuel, valets etc there aint £4k of proift in a new car - well certainly not a honda.

I was tempted with the silver as in past experience it hides scratches better.

As a Honda employee maybe you could give us a break down of the cost to buy from honda to dealer, dealership expenditures and sales discrection discount.

Thanks

Yeah it's the first silver car I have had after red and black previously, I think the civic is a no win situation when picking a colour to age well, Silver hides the scratches well but is a nightmare to touch in the chips etc. Black looks the nuts but shows every mark. At the end of the day 3 alternatives to the flat red was a poor decision for Honda to make.

You done any mods etc? can't tell a lot about your car in your signature!

You've hit the nail on the head there. 4 choices of colour is pretty poor for the type or car it is.

And Maybe its me but I cant tell the difference in the deep bronze and black. Well not in the showroom anyway. The sales person was pushing me to have the bronze (he must have had one in stock).

I'm not a fan of red (which is strange being welsh). But when I see red cars that have faded pink, I cringe......I know it takes years, but the image hunts me of owning a pink car lol.
