Buying a civic

Since this is my first post, I can start with saying hi. Hehe.

Anyway, I have been looking on the civic for some time now and finally made my decission. I`m getting one.

But I have a few questions.

I`m going for the 1.8 sport.

Would you recommend go for the Grand Prix pack and 18" for it, or get it original and use a custom bodykit and some other 18"?

I really like the look of it with the Grand Prix thingy and 18" wheels.

And I`m afraid if I go for a bodykit that it will be issues with fitting it and problems with materials, cracks, difference in colour when you have to get it paint and stuff like that.

Thanks for any guidance you can give me.

Regards

I would go for thr the GP pack as a rule , because your only asking for insurance probs . This would make your car modified from original, insurance companies just love to add more money to the policy.

Hello Ronny!

Welcome to the forum.

Great choice of car. What colour did you go for?
I thought of the Grand Prix Packet myself, but as I needed a tow bar badly, any kind of body styling set unfortunately were ruled out. You can't have them both. LIke yourself, I like the look of the Grand Prix set very much.
What alloys were you thinking of? Personally I like Hondas 18" 'Storm' very much. The drawback is they are very expensive. So that put you in a kind of dilemma. So, regarding the alloys, I think I might looked around a bit on the various tyre garages to see what they could offer me. I'll recommend you to have a look in the gallery or tyre section on here, it's much interesting to read about there.
Good luck.

Thanks

I havent currently bought the car yet.

I`m still at work and wont be home until next week. But I have already made some calls and are going to a dealer to test out and stuff when I get home.

After what you have said I think I will go for the GP package. I got prices and stuff from one dealer, but will call around and see If I can get some disscounts or something.

Regarding wheels... I really like the chrome shadow ones.

But I just have to wait and see.

Colour, hmm, not sure. I was first thinking the orange one would be cool, but after thinking of it for a few days I found out it would be to flashy and not to my liking.
Right now I`m thinking nighthawk black or some sort of grey or the royal blue one.

I have been thinking on the red to, but not sure. It`s so easy to see if your paint is getting funky.

I can add that I will also get the Type-R. Looks so much better I think.

Any good pictures of a NHB civic with the 18" storms anywhere?

Looked through the picture gallery, but I might overlooked something.

Hi Ronny,

Definatley the Grand Prix kit and some nice Honda wheels.
The aftermarket stuff is nowhere near as nice, in my not so humble opinion.

The 18" look good, but makes the ride harder.

Ok, I talked ot the dealership agian today.

They had most colours ready to go, unless I wanted something special.

Extra stuff I wanted was about 4-5 days away, then I had to add a few days for paintjob on the parts and fitting the stuff.

So far this is what im considering:

1.8 i-VTEC
Grand Prix Package
Sport Suspension
Type-R Grill

Colour:
NHB or Milano Red

Going with the black one will make it look very sleek, but the details of the car might not come out properly. I havent found a picture with a NHB civic with the GP fitted.

Red will make it look more "sportcar" like, and you will be able to spot the details of the car better. The negative thing might be the black spoilers and stuff that goes around the car...

Saw a milano red civic here...

For the wheels I`m thinking black ones, no matter if I choose a red or black car.

For the black car it would make the car look evil. While on the red one it would kinda make the black stuff on the car make more sense..maybe??

And yeah the wheels would be 18"

In my opinion, go with the black.

I think there is a black Civic from Germany somewhere in the Gallery with a GP kit on it, but I was not able to find it.

By the way, are you getting a 07 or 08 car seeing as they are in stock.
If it is an 07 you should get some more discount.

Going to the dealer tomorrow to have a look.

I`m starting to get unsure now on what to get. I`m leaning more and more against the red one.

And I`m thinking on just not bother with the grand prix package since I really want a more agressive look on it aka Type-R lookalike....

I wont accept a 2007 model. Will be 2008.

Hehe, yeah. When he came with the discounts and all that it wasnt that much difference.

And while I was there another customer came in to get her phone hooked up to the bluetooth thingy. And she drove a milano red executive. And all my doubts about colour went away

They also changed to winter tyres free of charge for me. So now I`m looking for some wheels I can put on it for the comming summer.

Will also try to get the Type-R grill for it

Then I`ll decide if I want to more with it.

Congratz Ronny!
What did you pay for the H&R-kit, and how much can you lower the car?
Do you have the part number for those? (link?)
What door thingys? The speaker rings perhaps?!
Looking forward to see some pics of your beauty.

The H&R kit was quite expensive, around 14000 kr, but I saw a place where it went for around 11000kr. Looking back I would probarbly bought them directly from H&R or some other dealer outside norway.

Here is the part I ordered:

29128-1

Honda Civic Typ FD1 + FK1 + FK2 + FN1
lowering [mm] rear axle 30 - 60 lowering [mm] front axle 40 - 70, year: ab: 12.2005

Door thingys = protective aluminium foil or plate on the doorstep.

Pictures will come asap!! Promise
