Question First Service

my '07 Civic es (7100 kilometers) is due its first service at the
end of this month, having seen problems highlighted on Civinfo
re suspension,i have noticed that when pulliing out of my drive
there is a "creaking" noise from the rear suspension, can anyone advise if this points to a problem that should be tackled by my Dealer, also highlighted is the Petrol Cap "problem", my petrol cap does not open
first time, most of the time, should i request that the cable be replaced,or is this where the problem lies.
Happy New year to all Civinfo contributors and of course all
the Civinfo Staff !!!!

Don't worry about the creaking from the suspension it is normal. My Dealer checked out mine on my 06 model and concluded it was OK. It creaks only when I back off the drive, nothing to worry about. As for the petrol cap problem there has been a fix for this for quite a while so I am surprised that the problems still exists on your 07 model.
Wehn you take it in ask if will recalled due the handbrake problem. Most have had letters.

I know alot of Civics do creak, but I can't accept it's normal . If my wife's Feista does not do it, (or many other cars) why should the Civic, which is supposedly at the premium end of it's class.

Each time my cars been in the dealers (and that alot!) I've asked them to look at it and each time they have said nothing is wrong! The car is going in on Friday and won't be leaving the dealers until it's sorted!

not sure i agree with scorcher my car had squeaking off drive turned out to be faulty sub frame there is a updated subframe available to people who complain of noise its not a recall, but is done under warranty. the petrol cap requires a bi metalic spring fitted inside the cap ares easy fix , when car is in they should check your vin to see if there are any outstanding recalls due

Mine does the same - only on the drive, not after being parked on the road. It dosn't bother me really.

As to the handbreak, I'm in Ireland too and have not received a letter about it. I did email Honda Ireland and got a reply that someone would get back to me, they havn't yet. Did you get one Hondafan?

I don't think that the Dealers has the faintest idea how to fix the creaking problem. I agree that a Honda should be not have these sort of problems but the lesson I have leernt is never to buy a new model of any car ever again. Your comparison with a Fiesta is interesting that car has been around for 20 years.
