Excellent, Good or Rip Off

What would you guys consider a good price for the following Spec??

Type S GT icdti
NHB
Sat Nav + HFT
Ambient Lights
Parking Sensors
Mats
Co-axial upgrades + Rings
Dealer will arrange to have colour coded (£450)
5 Year servicing

Think the book price comes to £21685

I would be aiming for about £18000.

Yikes! Dealers typically have 12% to 14%, but then there are sometimes promotions and bonuses that mean that a car sold at cost can trigger a quantity bonus for other previous sales.

10% would be a very good result. 15% would be exceptional.

Agree, The credit crunch is already biting so the customer is in the driving seat. If the dealer will not do the deal that you want find another one that will. Lots of dealers will be starting to get a sweat on as money becomes tighter so squeeze them hard!!

Yes but Honda dealers along with many other manufacturers are renouned for their small discounts is it were a Citroen or Peugeot etc then you would be expecting BIG discounts

I would say highly unlikely from a reputable Honda dealer
you could look at some of the brokers i.e drive the deal etc who
still deliver the car to you through a main Honda dealer or even go to a dealer with the price you have been given by a broker and see if they will match it if you manage to get £3000 + off through a dealer I will eat my hat ( once i've gone out and bout one)

You have added a lot of high value(read high profit for dealers) extras in your spec and the dealer can come down 12% on the list price of the car( but will not want to) so £18000 is ambitious but possibly can be done or nearly done if you haggle hard enough. Or do what i did and give the dealer the price you are prepared to pay and let them decide if they want to do a deal or not. But hold your nerve and let them do the chasing. They emailed me 6 times that they couldnt do the deal at my price. Held firm and got the car at the price that I wanted. Email is a good tool if you dont want to mess around tooing and froing in the showroom. Good luck!!

P.S I wouldnt except a deal with a discount of less than £2500.

If you are happy then its a great deal. A discount of £2275 is not to be sneezed at. But i would have gone for more!!

Just got a Type-R GT + Satnav and HFT + 5Yr Service for 19300, and even had a broker quote 19100 for the same on a UK car.

So deals are around

4 to 5 % is the best you can have in France, plus accessories. Thats the problem with Honda here, the dealer don't fight to found custommers, that's the custommers who fight to found a dealer !

thats about ~9%, there are very few people that have got much more than 10-11%

Good choice mate, its the car i originally wanted the price would be very similar to what im paying, nearly shot my load when i saw the first one close up they are amazing! but its a car i want to keep for possibly 5 years (unless something really good comes out) couldnt see my self driving a type R for so long would want something a bit more comfortable and economical. Enjoy yours!!

I couldn't even get a 3% discount off a ex demo Dealer said they only discounted new by 5%. Needless to say I still don't have a Civic yet.

Speak to your dealer, I basicaly went in, told them what I wanted, told them what I could get it for, and after a bit of discussion with the new car sales manager they said yes.

Just be firm, and remember there is more than one dealer, you don't have to use the closest one

CarFile are quite good for guaging what price you should be paying.

You can definetly get better than 5%
