Unhappy Delayed Delivery !

I ordered my Civic 1.8 ex in December and was given a delivery date of early March. Mid Jan I enquired if the delivery date was ok and was told it was estimated delivery to the dealer of 29th Feb. A collection date was set for 7th March. I checked progress this week and was told delivery had been put back to late April Early May with no explanation other than the earlier date must have been a system glitch.
Now do Honda have a production problem, or have their sales been underestimated or have the dealers been telling Porkies?
My problems are this. My current car, which I Had sold privately, and the new owner due to collect early March now will need retaxing,MOT, service and new front tyres.
Also the Honda Aspirations deal for PCP runs out on 28th March.
So what do we think? Should i ask for my deposit back and look elsewhere for an immediate deal, even if it means going to another franchise or bite the bullet spend the extra money and wait.
My first impressions of dealing with Honda have been somewhat soured

I'd explain to them your situation with your old car and try to get a courtesy car while you are without one waiting for your new car. I certainly wouldn't spend money on mot, tyres, service and tax. Tell them if they can't help you out regarding a car you will cancel the order and look elsewhere.

I don't know how the Aspirations deal works but it is Hondas fault that your car is not coming as originally planned so see what the dealers can arrange there. If you get no joy on both I'd walk away.

my dealer offered me a courtesy car when it looked like mine was going to be delayed. I would demand one or say your cancelling the order.

Seems a hellishly long time to wait - my Type R took 2 weeks from order to delivery (assuming it arrives on Tuesday as it should!).

although waits are inevitable sometimes this does seem like rather a big jump.

Even my dealer in Poland offered to lend me a car if I needed it if the car was delayed!

I personally would talk to the dealer about it and see what he can offer you. If he can't help you go somewhere where they can help you.

Good luck

I ordered my Type S 2.2 TDCi on the understanding that it would be 2 months. It arrived in 2 weeks, causing me some embarassment. Even allowing for other cancelled orders becoming avilable for re-allocation, it seems Honda UK's predictiions are somewhat...unpredictable.

A cancellation E-Mail sent to the dealer today brought the following response. ' Good news, your order has been moved forward and the car is now due 24th March'. I am still unsure how that works, threat of cancellation moves production date forward by about 5 weeks. Am I missing something here?

Phone them, you'll never get anywhere via email.

Unfortunately the delivery dates are only estimates based on the assumption that all parts are ready. My alloy wheels held up my order
