Advice please

So, I've just ordered a 1.8 EX with S/R in blueish silver with 18" Storm alloys and iPod connector. However I now have a choice.

The blueish silver car will be available approximately at the end of March and will be an 08 model build. I've liked the blueish silver civic since I first saw it and have had my heart set on it for some time. However I can get a silver 1.8EX in the same spec available around 21/2/08 (10 days). This is an 07 build but is brand new and not pre-registered. I will have to have the rear parking sensors fitted as an extra but the dealer will do it for no additional fee (i.e. same price as the 08 model). And I have checked that the rear parking sensors are Honda's own (having seen a few threads on here talking about inferior third party ones). I also have the choice to wait until March 1st and have it registered as an 08 plate.

We've got a family holiday planned in the first week of April so if the blueish silver civic were to be delayed then that might cause me a problem.

Anyone got the silver EX with storm alloys? Look any good? Better than blueish silver? Should I be concerned about taking an 07 model car? Should I wait until March 1st?

Your thoughts appreciated.

Thanks.

BTW For the record I was able to get to within £250 (£1750 off list) of the Drivethedeal price with my dealer. And he's taking a part exchange which saves me the job of moving on a well loved, but now very tired Alfa 166 3.0 Super Lusso.

I think the Storms will look better with Silver. But the 08 model may give you a better resale (not that you're too bothered at this point!).

Go for the Alabaster Silver with the parking sensors. It's a good colour and is easy to look after. Silver looks better with the black and silver interior as well!!

My suggestion is to not compromise something that will be with you for a long time, just to satisfy a very short term problem.

Blueish it is!

Some clicking for you:

So finally there is my alabaster silver sport 2.2. diesel 5 doors with storm alloys
Help Please! Storms on a Silver car?

Whilst it is very tempting to go for one 'now', personally I'd hold out.

Otherwise come the end of March you'll be thinking 'hmmmm, if I'd have waited...'

Remember - the dealer is unlikely to be doing this out of the kindness of their heart - unless you are an extreemley good customer of theirs or something?

I agree! unless you can get the dealer to add some extra extra's or drop the price. My guess is he NEEDS to get rid or will be stuck with it as a demo

If you have always liked blueish silver you should wait otherwise you may regret it everytime you see one pass you by. Although personally I think the civic looks better in silver, as for the storms I think they look better on NHB and red and look a bit dirty on the lighter colours, but given the choice of storms on silver or blue - it has to be silver.

If the dealer is letting you wait til 1st March to register than thats great. So all you have to do is make your own mind up, listening to our conflicting advice will confuse you

silver or blue, silver or blue, silver or blue, silver or blue, silver or blue silver or blue, silver or blue ??????

I'd go for the silver but with Altimos instead of Storms!!

Like others have said, as it is an 07 model I'd be expecting a few extras for the same price.

...silver or blue...silver!

Thanks to all for the advice guys. In the end I was kidding myself that I had a free hand in the decision. I took Mrs Lurker to the dealer (bearing in mind that she's always wanted the blueish silver until today) and she looked at the blueish silver cars and said she preferred the silver! So we've just ordered the silver car. Should pick it up first week in March.

Can't wait. And once again thanks for your thoughts - and the photoshop'd Silver EX with storms. I printed it out next to the original blueish silver and that helped to make my ("our") mind up. The storms do look better with silver I think.

I'd hold out for the Blueish Silver mate, I had a similar choice to make on my previous car and was so gutted that I hadn't waited cos the newer version came out with better specs and I never was happy with the colour.

I would wait personally for the blueish silver model as that is the one you like. If there is a delay ask you dealer to provide you with a car for the holiday. I waited from August 07 til Dec 07 and it was worth it. I got the car I wanted and am very happy.
