Petrol or diesel ? And the winner is......

I've been looking around for a Type S GT for a few weeks now and wanted a 2.2 diesel after testing driving one twice. Tried to buy one a few weeks back but a poor trade in value of my car resulted in no deal. Continued to look around and after seeing the petrols up to £2500 cheaper, thought I'd give one a go. It was a really nice drive, but as I suspected, the lack of torque was something I couldn't live with, as I'm use to power and torque with my Octavia vRS. So decision made, diesel it is. I also got to see the new Tangarine orange as well and must say it's very nice with a set of blades on. So now I need to decide what do do. Used in vivid or milano, or new in Orange

If I had the cash I think I'd go for the tangerine. Lot's of the other colours on the road, not seen an orange one yet.

The tangarine does look nice I must admit, but that would shatter my budget. Thing is, the stealer I was at today has one in the showroom and more or less said he'd match any internet price. Would have to strip off that awful image pack though (some may like it, but I don't).
I have a few other's in mind. If anyone see's any S GT's, do let me know. Would consider all colours mentioned. I even like the look of the blueish silver with a set of blades on

As nice as the 2.2 is, I want more revs and more torque.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Seat diesel perform in this year's BTCC.

I test drove the Leon FR TDI. Yes it has great performance, but the interior is a big disappointment. Nice steering wheel and dials but the center 'console' is poor in my opinion. Externally looks great in white. Also the DPF appears to be a big issue with the VW diesel engines, so that also put me off. Will stick with the Civic i think.

I had a go in the CTS diesel and the CTR, I loved both. The diesel is a fantastic drive, but the R was what I really wanted when it came down to decision time.

Great car though and milano red is a great colour too.

Like the Type R, but I found the seats didn't suit my a$$ and I'm trying to be a bit careful with my cash so diesel it is. I'm now considering a new 2.2 in Tangarine with 18" blades via a internet broker as 2nd hand ones are going for more than a brand spanker. I also get to choose a tango'd one as well

That's a good price, are they cheaper in that colour then?

Can do better than that

drive the deal. £17454.96 same spec.

Thats why new seems a much better option.

I mean I'd rather pay £17454.96 for a new one from DTD than more than that for a used one. It's also quite a bit better than broadspeeds quote and is the best quote I've had so far.

Smile

How about a pre-reg. I have just bought a type s 2.2 gt on a 57 plate (end of September reg), delivery miles only with blades in vivid blue. Got above top book for my A3 Sportback and paid £2600 under list.

Have a look on the used section of the Honda website, if interested there are a couple of others about, and with the 08 plate coming up you should get a ood deal.

I check honda.co.uk regular and the prices always seem much higher than internet sites. Seems you got a really good deal. My local dealer hasn't even mentioned pre-reg ones to me. Maybe I need to call around other dealers.
