| This thread is about: silver or orange?, it's in Buying, Dealers and Servicing at the Honda Civic forum Civinfo; You just get the colour you prefer. I would be mindful that vandals also may prefer something that stands out.... | ||

Technically, Black is the colour of objects that do not reflect light in any part of the visible spectrum, and is therefore the lack of reflected light not the lack of colour.

Real Colour is caused by the reflection of light.

I'm 40 and have a Galaxy Grey. Everyone else with Galaxy Grey is a pensioner, with a flat cap.
It does mean nobody ever gives you a second glance, and I assume the reason it's never been broken into in Nottingham is because the scum just can't see it. Rather like an age-sensitive stealth device. The Tango was top of my list, but I was told by the dealer it "isn't available in 5 door", so I chose one of the remaining (Many) bland colours. Have the Tangerine, DON'T blend in, easily find it in car parks, and get noticed on the road. You know you'll regret it the next time a tango passes you. |

Aagh - so many good reasons to go one way then the next. I saw another on the forecourt today and it was parked next to a Champ Silver model. The silver looked so bland next to it and I thought that the orange isn't nearly as loud as I would imagine. It's actually more of a copper/gold look and is much more subtle than the name suggests.
I agree that maybe an orange one could attract a vandal and I also think that if/when it gets scratched just thru normal wear and tear, the silver will camouflage the scratches better. Decisions, decisions... |

Oh they could get plenty of silver!
I went down to the local dealer again this morning and stared at all the pretty colours. I saw an exact model of what I had ordered - 2.2 ctdi SE plus leather in Champagne Silver - and I really decided I didn't like it. They had a used one in the vivid blue which I quite liked but that's obviously out of it and I just kept looking at the orange and loving it. I have to say the red isn't bad either but this is not an Alfa so I can't do it. I rang the broker and when I told her I wanted to change the colour she said "Orange, right?". I asked how she guessed and she said she had just ordered one for someone else. She thought it sounded horrible then, so she went and had a look at one and realised that the colour is really golden and in the sun looks amazing. I reckon it's going to look fantastic with the black leather interior. It's a bit of a statement but it's not as bad as a canary yellow A3 that a friend of mine drives - that's horrible! She also said that there is a bit of a lead time for these but I hope that I should be okay as I don't want it until mid-May. So it's water or Tango only in the cup holders from now on. |
