I won't be going back to a TT for a good few years
For the same reason as no Type R - I need 5 seats

But if / when I do, then I'll be looking very hard at the diesel (and a remap )

My 2 previous Audis were both 1.9 TDis, in an A3 ('Y plate) and an A4 ('54 plate) so, from memory 110 or 130 bhp.
Both were pretty good (but nowhere near as good as the Civ ), so it'll be interesting to see what they manage with this one

By comparison the Honda 2.2 is incredibly linear and easy to drive smoothly. Oddly (albeit in a lighter car) it feels just as powerful (in standard tune) except perhaps when approaching the red-line (which isn't really the point of a diesel imho). It also sounds so much nicer (less intrusive).

I'll need to be convinced that the VAG engine has improved considerably before leasing another Audi, my top choice for next car is the new Accord Tourer if it's out in time.... Also, being >2.0l makes a big difference to HMRC mileage rates if you use it for business.
Interesting info-nice to know in real world performance the curent 2.2 is still up there with best VW etc has to offer

I must admit that as a petrol driver, I wish I'd gone for the derv.

I had the choice of a new 1.8SE or a low mileage diesel and I went for new.

I'd just had a terrible experience with an under performing diesel (not Honda) which ended in timing belt failure, a new engine and still pish performance and decided to go back to the more reliable (touch wood) vtec. Since being on this website I have since discovered how tuneable the 2.2 is and will probably chop back to a low mileage diesel when I have to change.

Although at 7p a litre difference between petrol & diesel, I doubt I'll save anything on fuel economy, but at least I can give myself almost Type R perfomance (probably by the time I get round to changing the CTR Diesel will have been released by Honda anyway.)

Hi, 1st post! Looking to get a 2.2 CDTi S (well thats what they listed it as) for a company car, just waiting on approval as its a step up from my old Pootreon C4 1.6HDi 90 and costs a fair chunk more. Anyway, I have to agree that if you switch from petrol to diesel and vice versa you need to change your driving style, I have had diesel for around 5 years now and have driven similar spec cars by the petrol variant and found then to be terrible. Even down to on the same day driving a Golf TDi GT and a VR6 (leathers etc very nice car) and being absolutley disgusted withthe economey and driving style of the VR6. I love diesel, especially now they are more refined then say 5 or 10 years ago. The power delivery and troque are just great, witht e bigger diesels you benefit from having slightly more upper GO then a smaller diesel engine which runs out of puff top end. I also do alot of motorway driving, so diesel wins! Back to driving styles, I had a 1.4 206 for a week when my car was being repaired (vandalised) and hated it, terrible on fuel, revvy, powerless. The second I got back in my C4 .... wow, solid, firm clutch, more grunt, acceleration, smoother drive. That said I owner a 3.0 Carlton GSi 24v once, but thats a different kind of petrol engine.

Thanks, just a quick hijack though, is there such a model as an S? Cant see it listed on honda's site. Unless the leasing company use it as a abbreviation of Sport (I wish so much so). MMMMMM Milano Red!

Back on topic, I'do nly ever go petrol again if it was say a Typre-R, if the new ones are as quick as teh old shape I drove once .... holy smoke, when it gets up in them revvs

There is a Type S which is the 3 door.

There is also a spec level called S, the very base level with no radio or air con.
My understanding is no-one has seen one of these in real life.
