Exclamation Chatham Honda, Abbeyhill, Edinburgh

I unfortunatley decided to go back to this dealer today to get a couple of clips for my car, although I did buy my car from Chatham Honda I got it from their dealership at Sighthill in Edinburgh and if I had forgotten why, I was soon reminded on my visit today!

The phrase touting for business comes to mind. I first of all arrived to find that there was an Accord that had been brought in by the RAC being taken off tow, but it was slightly blocking part of the road so I stopped only to be shown that I must drive along side it and up onto a ramp about a foot high with a drop at the oter side! To say I wasn't impressed is an understatement. I could have done that if I had wanted but funnily enough after spending my hard earned cash on a car I wanted I didn't want to damage it! Luckily going very slowly and creeping managed to stop any issues.

So as I make my way into their car park which is litered with cars just abandoned anywhere I then have to play dodge the pot holes! I've never seen so many wide and deep pot holes like this in my life. Luckily I wasn't going round at speed (unlike their guys from the service dept as they shifted folks cars around) otherwise it would have been a new alloy, tyre, front suspension and maybe a new front skirt as they are sooooo deep!

I then get into their 'Portakabin' Parts and Servicing department and I tell them what I need. I'm asked for my reg which I gave him. He wrote it down and said oh its a private reg? I confirmed it was and he said well I won't be able to find it on here, so what modle and year is it? New Type R and btw how can't you find my car on your systems as I did buy from Chatams? His reply was we use the Honda UK database. I then told him that my car was registed at new with my private plate. Its never had any other reg. He then checks the system and funnily enough he then says, Milano Red. Yes thats the one.

In the meantime the guy who is sitting next to him is going onto their systems and is saying whats the name? Whats the name? I turn to see that he is talking to me and the guy i'm delaing with says, its alright I've got it. But this is the best part!.............

The idiot that had just directed me over the ramp comes in and it turns out that he is the one that told the guy from the RAC to leave the Accord I mentioned at the start in that excat spot! He then goes on to say that the Accord has just been brought in by the RAC and the guy has put Petrol in a Diesel..........and the f**king D**k has driven it! And then he starts laughing as do the other guys at the other end!

Quite frankly that was what I found the most disgusting. Okay someone made a mistake with their fuel but there is no need to talk about someone like that in front of other customers. I have a good mind to put this all in a letter to them and drop it in tomorrow when I pick up what I have ordered.

Once I have my clips there is not a hope in hell that I will be back there again. This dealership were rubbish when I wanted to buy the CTR (by ignoring me and then offering the worst deal) and if this is the way they refer to customers in the servicing department i'm glad I won't be back there!

I didn't give them a good write up in the wiki either. Actually when I got my phone call from Honda UK after I got the car I actually told them excatly what I thought of this dealership and this was the reason that I ended up at the other one which was more than double the distance from the closest one to me.

Dealer retards

We all know that it goes on in a dealership but as you correctly say they should not be saying this in front of a customer!

Quick letter to the DP is what I'd do also reminding them that you'll not be doing an Arnie!

(I'll be back)!

We used to get a couple of incorrect fuels in a week and we knew there were dealers out there insisting on changing the entire fuel system or their warranty would be void (on fuel system).

In some cases this would be in excess of £5k! and insurance companies were paying out for this so it effects us all in the long run!

In many circumstances this kind of repair is not necessary!

And don't get me started on dealer car parks!

Forget about writing to them directly, you can probably guess what ******* they will come out with when they see that.

Instead call the highest person you can in the UK pecking order AND write him a strongly worded letter.

That will put the wind up them ****ing ***** lol

Its totally unprofessional

Nice letter to Chatams' MD would be in order me thinks.
Copy that to Honda UK Customer Services (you never know they might be interested and it will take thier mind off all the handbrake/paint complaint letters).

Also point out that their forecourt resembles Bagdad, and thier staff drive clients cars like thier own personal dodge-ems and you should at least get a response.

Yeah a new system is what they were ordering for it......not sure if they had told the bloke that. The guy from the RAC had just left and they hadn't even looked at it by this point so God only knows what kind of X-ray vision they have.

I bought my civic se 1.4idsi from chatam at sighthill and the guy that sold me the car was a nice enough guy and tryin to be really helpfull but he was about as bright as a 1 watt light bulb when it came to the computer side of things.

When i phoned them the other week to ask about the stud spacing on the se they told me sorry we dont have any of they details on file!! Very very shocked i ended the phone call and ended up shoutin at my mate about how pish a dealer is if they dont even have that kind of information about the cars they sell ended up getting a quote for the alloys i wanted from auto image and they were able to tell me the stud spacing i feel like phoning honda and telling them what it is so they know for future reference.

FL0 (yes i have called my car FL0 coz it is the start of her registration number ) is going into the garage on monday so will see how their customer service is when they see the civinfo stickers

They will see your a member of the 'Geek' Site. Thats what the guy who sold me my car called it, but he did say they found it useful when people had 'issues' with their car. Then they could see if there was a few cars effected.

Angela - sorry, I misread your post - I thought that you were having a go at Sighthill

I saw an advert in the local paper a while ago about a place in Peebles - apparently voted UK's favourite Honda Dealer (again). I thought about giving the place a visit and seeing what they were like

No, it was Abbeyhill.

I know the dealership in Peebles. Its a very small one but its been there for Donks! My Dad did suggest looking there when I was buying my car as he remembered them being spot on when he was looking at a car there whilst on a wee weekend there.

Dealerships like the ones in Peebles are always good because they are so small and cant afford to turn custom away especially by doing the things noted above!

I thought that may have been the case. If I put this in the Wiki, it would probably be the biggest slate of a dealership on there

I am wishing that I didn't bother and when they said that they didn't have the clips in stock (which I was suprised about especially as its the first of March on Staurday and I would have thought that if they had any CTR's to fit the badge too they would need some of these clip just incase, but then i'm used to BMW dealerships which seem to have EVERYTHING in stock most of the time) I was going to say, forget it...........I'll go elsewhere!

So now I have to go back tomorrow to pick these stupid things up! Think I may just park the car on the street, run round the corner, pick them up and get myself out of there pronto!

My dad is always offering to do stuff, especially when he gets a nose round a garage but he would just get his mate Tony to take him in his type r instead. After all its a company car so Tony aint bothered what happens to it.

I bought mine from the small dealership in Peebles Brown Brother Honda (cos I live there) brilliant service, can,t do enough for you, mines been back in twice once for outstanding warranty work and once for a rip in the door seal (replaced free under warranty) I found them always polite and helpfull. All work was done on a date to suit me and car was washed before I got it back. Was given wine and flowers for my wife when I picked it up so she wouldnt feel left out. Brilliant dealership.
