Newbie needs spec help
Hi
I've been looking at 5 door Civic diesel as a lease car, probably the SE. Can someone answer the following questions. Apart from fog lights and wheels are they all the same exterior wise? Is the sport just a name or have the suspension settings been altered? Petrol versus diesel! I'm a bit worried out the torque of the 1.8p, so might opt for the 2.2d. Any views on this? Thanks Zeeshan |

As far as i understand , i have the Type S GT and it comes with lowered suspension, i have driven both the 2.2 and the petrol 1.8 and i bought the 1.8, you are looking at a 0.4 difference in 0-60 and deisels make too much racket lol

I am not an expert on the UK models, but this might help:
Brochure - Civinfo Wiki All the 1,8 5 doors have the same suspension, the Type S has wider rear track and stiffer front anti-roll bar. Exterior differances on 5 door 1,8s. Think you have got it, except some models have a glass roof also. Oh, and the badge on the back, eg iCDTi. ...and the great petrol vs diesel argument....matter of taste. Sooo many debates on it.... |

Youve clearly not driven the 2.2 then and it does feel noticably quicker despite the figures. The suspension has a wider track at the rear of the Type S but isnt lowered The Sport is by name only BUT comes with Xenons as standard like the EX and with the same wheels |

External differences between 1.8 and 2.2 - none, except as FHW pointed out, the badge on the back
External differences between specs - yep, just the foglights on some models, and (if you look closely) the headlight washers on the Sport and EX And (as per FHW) the ES comes with sunroof as standard, option on EX Again, you are correct on the wheels - from a dealer (and possibly as its a lease car), Honda will only let you go up one wheel size - so 16" to 17 on the SE & ES, or 17" to 18" on the Sport and EX If you get right close up and personal (and picky Sport is in indeed in name only - perhaps 'SP' might have been a better name choice for Honda As to the engine - no competition |

Thanks DDTegs.
Missed the headlight washers becasue we get them on all cars in Sweden. Also, I think I have read that on cars with rain sensor one of the wiper blades is longer? That would also be a small external differance.. Only other thing would be rear parking sensors on an ´08 EX. Last edited by FWH; 11th March 2008 at 20:38. |

But the engine is quite happy lower down the range and pulls happily in 6th from low speeds. It isn't an 'all or nothing' engine that you might expect. The petrol vs diesel debate will never be answered in the Civic. They are both great engines. It is just which one suits your driving style best. |
