New Car or Not???
Im expecting delivery of my civic very soon. however im a bit dubious on what im acutally going to be getting.
My original order was delayed so after kicking off they said they had found the same spec car which has been ordered after mine but has been delivered to a different showroom. Apparntly since this is not on order by anyone else it will get bought to me. Not sure how a showroom stock car gets priority over a customer order Whats the average delivery milage? Are there any protective covers lables etc that the car comes with a new car? Anything else i should look for? thanks |

All cars get delivered with transit packaging on them but by the time the customer gets to see the car this will all be stripped off, at my dealership these get stripped on delivery to check that the vehicle has no damage, paint defects etc. Ask the sales person you have been dealing with what the mileage is on the actual car you will be getting. |

Mine turned up (lease company) with about 40 miles on the clock, which is a bit higher than I expected, but I would say anything less than that and you should be safe to assume new
check the VIN too - not that that is any real indication as there is no difference in '07 and '08 Type S models |

'New' is a very relative term as technically 'New' can be looked as numbers of previous owners, mileage, condition etc.
I have seen new cars handed over at a showroom with 75-100 miles on them as the car has been transferred from another dealer, but driven and not transported. I've also had cars which were built 18 months prior to registration, which is still classed as new. As far as whether the car has been a showroom stock vehicle, if it has only just arrived at the dealers its highly unlikely they will have bothered getting it cleaned and prepped if they know it is being swapped to another dealer but in the event that it has, it will have only had people sitting in it, not driving it so it wont matter anyway. |

My EX had 40 miles on the clock. When I ordered it I was told it would only have a small delivery mileage. It is certainly more than 40 miles from Swindon to Enfield so it must have been delivered somewhere else on the transporter and then driven to my dealer.

Thanks for your replies, the mileage i guess is the obvious one i wouldnt expect any more than 20/30 miles.
"I have seen new cars handed over at a showroom with 75-100 miles on them as the car has been transferred from another dealer, but driven and not transported." i wouldnt have thought an unregistered vehicle could be driven on the roads, looks like i was wrong. however i dont even like the idea that the car has been in a showroom where people have been sitting in, im paying the premium for a "new" car not x-display. |

Many dealers have a central compound for newly delivered cars due to lack of space at the dealership. A dealer can handle a dozen or so but have an 'overflow' depot where I guess they store, as yet, unsold cars. This would enable all members of the dealership to draw off.

My car was driven down form Letchworth and had 67 miles on the clock when it was delivered.
The very nice man then showed me every little switch and button, and was very nice indeed... I just sat in it grinning like a cheshire tw*t... sorry cat |
