Anti Slip Dash Mat

Found the following rubber mat in Halfords the other day, and it is almost exactly the right size for the storage area under the radio. It would be the exact size of the edges were straight rather than slightly curved.

So now my iPod doesn't slide about or rattle anymore.

And how much did it cost - the grand sum of £2.99

And no, I didn't buy it because it said Type S on it (honest!)

My local Poundstrecher shop sells that stuff in large sheets.

I got 2 large sheets and carefully cut them up and I now have anti slip rubber :

Area behind flap under radio
Compartment under slider (near ciggy lighter)
Centre armrest area (pictured)
All over the lower boot area

Crumpled example - (now sits flat) :

These work really well I have one cut up to fit the storage under stereo (ipod holder), secured at the front with two bits of very thin double sided tape.

Works a treat.

Tesco do a boot liner size sheet of this stuff for £5. It is very effective at stopping things sliding around in the boot, even at Type R cornering speeds.

I would be careful about where you put the halfords non slip dash mat. I used something similar on the dash of my last car and it left a big stain on the dash which I couldn't get rid of. I think it was due to heat from the sun.

There is a warning to that effect on the packaging, to not leave it in the one place too long. Mine will be fine because it is in the storage area below the radio so doesn't get any sunlight.

Not forgetting to never put anything over the airbags.

I've seen some 'idiots' using those JML sticky mats on the left of the dash, over the SRS label, with a phone on it.

One guided missile coming up!

And also, whilst your at it, never put any full seat covers over the front seats of the Civ, if the seat airbags go off they have nowhere to expand to - might earn you £250 from You've Been Framed but that's about it.

I purchased one of the large sheets and cut off a strip which I've cut to size to line the storage area under the radio, the drinks holder section and a small piece folded into the ashtray where I place my mobile phone.

The remainder is laid in the boot under the cargo net. Works well to keep anything and everything in place when I've been shopping up the off-licence.

Got a similar white silicone mat in my local pound shop for holding the ipod and again it fits perfectly inside the dash cubby. Sweet. No rattles.
