Extended Warranty Thoughts
What's your thoughts on extending the standard Honda 3 year warranty, is it something which most people are considering when the time comes?Anyone know what the costs involved are with extending the warranty via local honda dealers? I assume the items covered would be as per the original 3 year warranty?
Thanks |

There will be T&C's which will apply ie upto a 60k miles some things aint covered etc. If the price is right then I would be very in favour of getting it. I had a Mini previously and the first year I extended the warranty due to umpteen faults with it and it only cost £270 not bad, then it cost £310 the following year, then it jumped to £625! Due to the fact that it had to be underwritten etc and for 1 year it was a waste as I hadn't used it the year before. And after 60k miles they didn't cover stuff like the steering, gearbox etc and these were things that they had replaced a couple of years earlier (after my car started pee'ing oil all over the monoblock when it moved for the first time in two weeks!) So in short I will be considering it when the time comes (but thats 2 years and 7 months off) and if the price is right then I will probably get it. Also a good thing when selling the car if its got a warranty |

Before you buy, look carefully at the exclusions in the description-don't assume it to be as comprehensive as the car manufacturer's.
I bought one year's cover with my 147 Alfa-Sunwin's own product and it looked on paper a good one.My theory was an extra year's peace of mind/repairs paid for and extra 'clout' if I wanted to sell the car on privately. I the end the car was a good one,but yes I did make one claim on the extended warranty-over £400 worth of replacement alternator;so it did pay for itself. The Alfa 159 I replaced that car with I decided against the warranty-I think it was over £400 for the additional year.Glad I did as I p/x'd it 3 months later for a Civic |
