New chic on the block

Hi everyone - been lurking in the background for months and took the plunge to join in - what a great site!!

After reading all the various posts I've decided that I have to have the 1.8 sports. Agreed a price with the local dealer on Sunday with a part-ex, only for him to go back on his word. He stated that I would have to wait 5 months for Nighthawk Black, but tried to pursuade me to buy a different model and colour. So I told him to forget it.

I've decided to go elsewhere - but not sure whether to place now or just before Xmas, as I've been told I may get a better deal around this time. Can anyone advice please.

Misstings - welcome!

I think the biggest variable will be the price offered on your part ex. So I'd go round a few dealers and just ask for the "price to swap". See what they say, and make sure they know that you're ready to buy and that you're shopping around. Focuses the mind...

I doubt waiting will cause the price to swap to drop. If anything, your part ex will just go down in value - so buy now!

Finally, have you driven both the petrol and a diesel?

I ordered mine back at the beginning of the month,

The dealer/fleet agent told me that a price increase is on the way.

not sure if it is just a fleet dealer or a sales dealer too

hope this is of some help

Welcome Misstings, I wouldn't think waiting till xmas before ordering a civic would save you money as they appear to be too popular and your part ex will be worth less at xmas.

You usually get a better deal if you wait until the last couple of days at

month end. Thats when they want to meet, or break, sales targets.

Oooh guess what fellas....I've gone and done it.

Placed my order today for 1.8 Sports Nighthawk Black - fog lights, spoiler, mats, 2 yrs service, a colour guard thing (forgot the technical term), with part-ex 51 reg 1.4 Peugeot 307 for 11.6K.

I'm on a tight budget so couldn't stretch for any more extras - but considering my current car is a basic model, (although 1st owner) doesn't event have AC, I felt happy with the deal.

Dealer will also sort out my cherished transfer and a bunch of flowers.

Did I do good?

I Didn't get a bunch of flowers!! Time to start another poll?!

It sounds like a good deal to me... But with a Civic at the end any deal sounds good to me!

Hope you enjoy

If your happy with the deal, thats all that matters. You'll always get

someone say you could have got this or that.

Allan40Alt always advises people to get the door garnish. It looks good with NHB. I agree with him. Phone your Dealer now , ask for door garnish, and forget the flowers.

I must admit the door garnish is tops! Everyone who has looks at the car has commented on it!

He he he....when we girlies shop - there's no messing about!

I had the offer from last Saturday from Lookers Honda in Warrington. But couldn't do anything until my other half spoke to the dealer himself (he thought I had been on majic mushrooms) - "a NHB civic in stock, you've got it wrong" he said.

Anyway they are sorting out the registration and transfer of my plates etc. I guess the wait is as soon as I arrive in the show room with my dosh.

Mine came from Lookers in Nottingham (They seemed to do a very professional job of options etc, but you might want to ask them not to stick 'Lookers' on the paintwork!! Still not worked out how to get it off!

Simple. Take it to the dealer, and tell them to remove it immediately.

If they were not 140 miles away I would!

I think a bit of White Spirit may do the job

Gently warm them first with a hair dryer.
