Just ordered...

Thought I'd show my face...

Put my deposit down on a red 1.8 EX yesterday after months of looking. Had planned to get the sport but as they'd taken my fave colour off the MY07 models (cosmic grey?), I decided to save some pennies and plump for red as it looks quite good. Pity about the 20 week build times on milano red sports...

So yeah, went for an EX, quoted delivery date of mid/end of October. Tried both cars extensively and was after the diesel but couldn't justify the extra cost as I would never recoup it (based on 15k miles). Already have a camshift engine so I'm ready for VTEC!

Have tried lots of different cars on the market such as the golfs, leons, octavias, 1 series, mini, clio 197 etc and the honda was the most well rounded for overall TCO/spec and fun. I'd almost convinced myself on a golf gti 170 or a gti until I did the sums and decided that I wanted some spare cash to play with every month!

The only thing I asked for was mats that got thrown in (after a decent discount). I do plan on upgrading to 18s later but after some tyres need changing. Apart from that I have no accessories. Really tempted by the rear parking sensors but for £390 I think I could just replace the bumper if I hit anything!

Here's to the delivery date being met.

You will love your EX when it arrives. Rear parking sensors are a good extra to go for! ...as are the stainless steel door garnishes; so much better than the black plastic door treads. Good luck.

Welcome Shaz, EX is great, so much to play with, highly recommend the rear parking sensors if you're not going for the rearview camera.

Welcome Shaz. EX is the right choice. I made the mistake of not going for the parking sensors, but with the poor rear visibility I would highly recommend you get them. You could probably do it cheaper after you get the car ... I am looking into this right now.

Welcome Shaz. Like the others, I would go for rear sensors or camera

When I ordered mine in December, the rear sensors cost me £475. I think they charge less now.

Or DIY if you can.

Car arrives next Friday!

Gone for the garnish, shall give it a month and re-assess the parking sensors as I may be able to do it myself for cheaper.

Am I misunderstanding here? You ordered your car on the 19th of Sept, and it's being delivered next Friday, the 29th??

10 day wait?!?!?!

Yup, totally standard Red i-vtec EX so they sourced it from a current run.

They had initially said October 22nd.

Not bad!

Very well done sir - that HAS to be some kind of record, a 10-day turn-around on an order?

Bite their hands off, unless you're able to do the rather nifty self-install elsewhere on this forum.

Don't worry, triple checked that it wasn't a showroom model etc. Apparently it's about 2 days old (3 now).

I'll turn it down on the spot if there's any evidence of someone having sat in it for anything more than putting it on a low loader!

Really? I know £300 is good compared to £390 but it's still a lot of money for what is basically four proximity switches with a touch of paint.

I quite fancy the self install of the Taurus setup (the strip that goes behind the bumper...)

Might see if they will hold the quote for me a month so I can try it without for a few weeks and see if I want it retro fitted.
