Can you change your mind?

Evening,

I've ordered a 1.8 ES from Bristol Honda in Brislington and as part of the deal they've given me an EX for duration of the bank holiday weekend.

Having driven the EX a bit now I must admit I'm quite liking all the extra bits that you get over the ES. When I ordered I didn't want Satnav etc as allready have a tomtom but I do love my gadgets and having been in the car with it now I'm quite liking it as well as the other extra features like the built in HFT.

I ordered the car a week ago and I've allready signed the paper work and put a small deposit down on the ES and the car I've ordered is on the aspirations deal which expires near the end of march so I don't know if that would affect it,

I was wondering if anyone knows what my chances are on being able to change my mind? I'm guessing it's going to cost me money and its something im going to have to work out with the dealer, but I thought I'd see if anyone has any experience of this

Cheers

Az

First off, I agree with you.
The satnav is not just a satnav - you have other functions in that colour monitor and it really finishes the space ship interior off well.

Regarding changing your mind IŽd say a lot is up to the dealer, if you want to change to a more expensive model - he way well be willing to help out. Talk to them and find out.

You'll probably find that if you've ordered it today then they probably haven't even done the paper work on it yet ie placed the order with Honda. I know that my local dealer leaves this upto the receptionist!

I would give them a tinkle in the morning and tell them that you've decided that you would like to upgrade the spec and i'm sure they'll be more than happy to oblige. If you don't ask, you don't get

Hi Azzuri - When I ordered my SE about 1 week later I changed my mind and decided I wanted an ES and while not very happy the dealer agreed to the change although I understand they take a hit from Honda for the change. I got the impression it came out of the salesman's commission.
Go for it you need to make sure you have no regrets about your choice.

As FWH says if you are changing your mind to a more expensive model they may look on it more favourably that the other way around.

haha yeah you might be on to something there. I'll have a word with them and see what they say. It's going to be an uphill struggle as my wife doesn't see the need to spend even more money on a car...

changing the model shouldnt be a problem but it all depends on supply. If there is an EX out there that meets your requirements then shouldnt be a problem but if you are on aspirations then the car needs to be registered by the 31st meaning there has to be a car available to register. You should find that most dealers would help you out in this situation.

I'd tell them as soon as. I changed my mind on the colour the next day but it wasn't available on the spec I wanted so had to go down from EX to ES. I think it's caused the dealership a bit of a headache because now they give me the run around, instead of the a two week delivery it's gone upto 11 weeks and they don't return my calls as the salesperson is forever with customers!

probably as they are now having to get a car built for you rather from stock and you are trying to contact the salesguy during the busiest time of year???

I went round to the dealers today as its easier than phoning (It's about a 30second walk from my work). I spoke to the sales manager as the salesman I have been dealing with is off today.

He went off to get my paperwork to see what the status and when he came back he told me that my car was allready in! He said I could still upgrade to an EX if i wanted to but it wouldn't have the glass roof and would be in a colour I don't like so I'm sticking with my original order of an ES. He said the car could be ready as early as next week!

I did order some parking sensors whilst I was there as they offered them for £300 and as part of the original deal I got them to add in the connect pack free of charge so I'm pretty happy with how its worked out and I know that when I get the car I'm going to love it .
