Insurance Has anyone claimed using GAP insurance yet

I was wondering if anyone has had the misfortune to write-off their Civic and then make a claim on the GAP insurance.

If yes...did insurers try to wriggle out of it any way???

I just would be interested to find out.

I just think it is the sort of thing that insurance companies would try and get out of if push came to shove.

i dont know how they would, you do have to read the small print though as some companies will only pay out the GAP as long as the owner of the policy was driving during an accident.

The bloke at the Honda dealership where I bought the Civic (where else, doh) had claimed on his GAP for his bike. Apparently, as soon as he mentioned the GAP, the insurance company just said 'fair enough, cheques in the post' and it turned up the next day.

He has the covering letter framed on his wall so he can prove it's not just his sales technique.

You can still get GAP insurance half the price of the dealer though.
