Red face First service

All,just had first service on my '07 Civic ES,(Jan '07,8150 k)all the normal items were done, eg,oil, filter ,etc.etc. and they fitted a new Fog lamp which was smashed, (i paid for the lamp,(250.00 euro)they fitted it free),I also purchased a spare wheel kit(180.00 euro),has anyone ever fitted one of these kits ??? there are a lot of bits and pieces, including a "net",can anyone advise what the net is for.The dealer also advised that they had fitted new wipers, which i advised them that this was not neccesary,as the car was only 14 months old,and that the wipers were perfect, and i was not prepared to pay the 60.00 euro for them, they reluctantly refitted my "old" ones ,which are perfect,They also advised that under warranty, they had replaced the drivers door lock, which "has been giving problems", A spring in the filler cap was also replaced, which was subject to a re-call.
The service cost 255.00 euro.
The above info is a guide for anyone getting their first service.

I believe the net is to retain the larger wheel if ever you have to take it off to use the spare. So it doesn't crunch the Easter eggs.

Yes, the net is to secure the flat tyre you put in the boot.

You can put the service cost in the Wiki here:
Service Cost - Civinfo Wiki

...and you should really have had the service done 2 months ago, but you probably know that.

Now there is an interesting point. I bought my car mid January but it was a pre-registered model that the dealer bought in October. Does that mean that my first service is due in October rather than January, even though it had only delivery miles on the clock when I picked it up ?

I am sure they will send a letter to inform me the service is due, but will that come for an October or a January service do you think ?

Actually, I would check.
Not servicing in time can be an excuse to invalidate warranty.

Donīt count on the letter... some do, some donīt.

The standard is 12 months or x-miles,(i am not sure of the mileage)but your first service date would/should apply from whenever you collected the car from the dealer.

Hi Honda Fan,

I'm in Cork and had 2 quotes for the first service on the 1.8 petrol

€155 and €180 euros. I know Dublin is expensive but that seems outrageous!!

I talked to the service manager about the due date for the pre-registered car. As it was registered in October the twelve months will count in October even though it had not been driven until January.

Hi Spud,
It is expensive, but i must admit the car is running a lot smoother, the kpg, seems
to be a little higher, but i think its just a case of feathering the pedal, how come
you got 2, quotes ??

I got a quote from the garage I bought the car from (its further away from the City so cheaper). The more expensive quote from the dealer nearest to me.

For the sake of an extra 20-25 Euros, I'll go with the dearer quote as the cheaper garage will mean about an extra hours drive all in.

I Would let the dealer know that you have received a cheaper quote, and remind
him how many spondoolics you have lined his pockets with,as the saying goes,
"if you dont chance your arm,you wont break your b****x"
