Got it at last! Jag to a Civic initial comparison...
At last I got my Civic 2.2 diesel sport and so far it's spot on. None of the niggles or faults listed on the forum seem to be apparent on the car and although its done 11,000 miles it feels like a new car.
Ride although firm does not seem bad - remember I'm comparing with a Jag X-type 2.0 (petrol) and the fuel economy seems great I have some things to do to the car including the plate transfer and I want to improve the interior lighting and colour match all the exterior headlamp bulbs to match the HID lights all of which the forums a great help with. Glad I had chance to get to know the forum prior to collecting the car and look forward to some subtlle changes to personalize the car. Cheers Guys! |

Welcome to CivInfo, I think you will find we have a very strong contingent in the Lancs/Yorks area. Look out for a meet up so you can come and discuss ideas

I was considering the Jag X-Type when I got my Civic 2.2 EX diesel this time last year.
I am very happy, but would still consider the diesel Jag next time (2 more years). As it is a company car, depreciation is not a concern. I haven't looked, but I assume the diesel Jag's fuel economy isn't too bad. Please can you comment on other comparisons between the two. |

I came from Jags (no cars have ever been more trouble!) to Lexus LS (no cars have ever given less trouble!) to an Accord (on retrement) and then to a Mini Cooper S Works (had to get it out of my system!) to my current Civic EX i-Shift. Have to say I'm well pleased with the Civic. |

By comparison, the Civic is a great load-carrier, I got 25,000 miles out of the front tyres, and I seem to get just as much performance out of my 1.8 iVTEC as I did out of the 3 litre V6, but use nearly half the fuel. And then there are all the EX gadgets! So, if the cost isn't an issue, it might be the car for you. It was certainly the most comfortable car I've ever owned. |

speaking of trading down (as it where) to a civic my last car was an rx8 before that a bmw 745 and before that a tvr cerbera but i just got the buzz of buying a hot hatch and after trying pretty much all of them i flipped between a megane 225 and a type r the noise and dashboard of the ctr won me over, I got it march 1st 2008 and honestly think its one of the best cars ive owned,I normally do 5k per year but the civic already has 1500 on the clock, fantastic machine

Boot size is OK but not as practical as the Civic and the drive is good but not nearly as much fun. Stereo quality was better by some margin but I can sort that out, parts were quite cheap compared to my previous car an Audi A6, will I need any for this car? If you have your heart set on a Jag the experience of owning one is great but there are lots of jealous people out there who dislike you for owning one. I got it out of my system and am now regressing back to my youth (gotta love the mid life crisis). Which is best? Totally different animals, I enjoy driving, the government are taking the fun out of it - I say time to enjoy driving again everyone needs a Civic! Last edited by copland; 27th March 2008 at 18:51. The Tata guy on the T.V., clearly stated that they mean to reduce costs, as that's what they do best.
They are not going to do that in the U.K. with our labour costs. I fancy, that within 3 - 4 years and they have got their heads around the In's & Outs, Landrover & Jag will be gone from Britain, along with 16000 jobs. |

Interesting to see mention of a TVR Cerbera, I changed last year from a TVR Chimaera to my Civic 2.2 CTDI Sport.
Rather a change, but I'm now getting 47mpg rather than 17mpg, and it'll be nice not having £2k servicing bills any more... |

Can't believe it guys but after having the car 2 days a guy ran into it with a frontera and crushed the bonnet, front grill, bumper and what else is yet to be looked at. he drove off but witnesses got the number I have an appointment at the police station tomorrow.
I'll post in the general discussion once I calm down... |
