Finally on order

Well, I finally have it all sorted. The order is confirmed for my SE 2.2 with leather interior. Only downer is that I had a choice of only one car for a very special deal on the contract hire price so I can't get my beloved tangerine orange that I really wanted. I'm stuck with 'safe' alabaster silver. Oh well, it was worth giving up the orange to get the leather!! Now it's done, I can't wait!!

It's actually available now but my old car's contract runs out mid may so they've let me hold on (since it's paid for) and they will arrange delivery and payment then.

I used to try and spot an orange one on the road (never did) then I started looking for galaxy grey models as I almost ended up with that, now I'm looking out for silver ones all the time. I'm just glad the wheeling and dealing is over and I can look forward to receiving it. Must say though, I love my current car and I'll be sorry to see it go but the Civic does look rather special.

True - black looks great but everyone has one and they are hell to keep clean. At least with the silver, the paint chips won't show up as badly!

Silver is probably the most popular colour for a car , but strangely it is very rare for the CTR - most people go for red or black.

The Honda orange makes a nice change from the usual range of colours, and the orange car certainly stood out at the yorkshire meet.

I really wish I could have had the orange. One nice thing about the silver is that it tends to flow thru to the very front because the Civic doesn't have the traditional grill. Instead, all that silver lighting and glass gives it a sweeping look that continues from the silver on the bonnet.

Hmm...the "Special" deal wouldn't have anything to do with the end of the month would it?

You should have held your nerve and started to walk out. You'd have got your orange Civic.

I'm not buying, I'm doing a contract hire. Yes it has to do with cars registered by the end of the month, but given that I could end up paying £40 or more per month for the same car next week, I'm not going to care what colour I get.

So they tell you... They're there to sell a car, not give you a good deal. They'll tell you anything to make the sale!

but not to burst your bubble or anything!

You will love your Silver one

And the £40 per month you've saved could go towards, say, ohhhh...
a Civinfo sticker for starters

I don't want to say that you don't really know what you are talking about....but you really don't know what you are talking about. Contract hire is unlike buying a car from any dealer or off a website. Only certain cars qualify because of the VAT element which is discarded in the purchase of the car by the finance company. Therefore, a deal such as this one which was organised by one particular supplier only had cars available in one certain spec and a few colours. I was lucky enough to be able to get the only car available with a leather pack and therefore the colour choice was silver. I checked with a number of different brokers, all of whom independently came back with the same answer on the SAME car and similar prices on this one car. It was clearly the only one available on the deal.

Having looked into CH'ing a Civic since last November, I am probably an authority on the monthly outlay for said car and I know that I have been offered a fantastic deal on the car, so good that in fact it's cheaper for me to hire it for three years and hand it back than it would be to buy it and then sell it with the sort of high mileage that I will put on it.

I've surely read this wrong because that reads as though you're happy to walk away with nothing having paid 3 years worth of payments? That doesn't make sense. In that instance you might as well lease a car, or even go on a long term pure hire scenario in which case you get a brand new car every 3 months.

But like I say, I must have read it wrong, but I haven't seen the actual maths, so that's possibly why.
