Mine is a company car and, when you sell or part ex, it always seems better if it is main dealer serviced. I had a Mazda last time that was serviced by a local garage and it took ages to sell and a few people stated they were put of by the lack of a main dealer service record.

Classic example from the week before last. I had a chap with a 07 CR-V company car come in to buy some roof bars. Whilst his car was in we checked if his car had any product updates outstanding on his car. It had.

After we had completed all the work he was telling me how the company he worked for owned 5 CR-V's, but they were maintained by an independent garage close to their office. He says he has pleaded with his boss to let the cars come to a Honda dealer for such reasons, but he is "set in his ways". So unless he had come in to us he wouldn't of known about the headlamp bulb mod, or the revised diff fluid mod which had been causing the low speed shudder from the back end. Something that had been diagnosed as a faulty drive shaft by his independent.

Valid points there.A work mate had an intermittant running problem with his Nissan.It was'nt until he took it to a main agent that it was properly sorted-faulty coil pack,apparantally a Nissan known issue with the model.

I have to say that if possible I would rather have it serviced at a Honda dealer due to the inside knowledge that they have over independents regarding their cars.

However after having my car serviced (37,500 £220) The dealer tried to charge me an additional £285 to have the rear pads and discs replaced! (I have mentioned this already on this forum so I won't go into it)

I got this work done independently and it cost me £108 (EBC parts)

I suppose you could say I got the best of both worlds, but Honda trying to overcharge me like that is a joke.
