[Colours] Colour Dilemma
Hey All,
Ok, thanks to a very nice and friendly salesman Adam at Honda in Letchworth, Hertfordshire I finally got an oppotunity to test drive a space ship. Actually I got to keep it for 24 hours, which allowed me to test it in the all important night time driving which is one area I had read about on this forum as being a nightmare with the glare. I'll happily report this was non-existant, the dash lights dimmed automatically when the lights were turned on & were perfect. Anyway, it turned out the model they lent me was a Type S GT and considering I was going to go for the lower spec Type S it worked out well as I am now going to plump for the GT version. Was not really into having the glass roof, but love cruise control, electric mirrors, dual climate etc. taht the GT brings with it. This decision was easy in terms of equipment, but the colour choice is stumping me. My current car, a Pug 307 in Paprika (burnt orange) is great, I love the colour even if others dont. It's different without being to in ya face if you know what I mean. Of course guess what demo car I had? Yep a Tangerine one Loved it, I really did and fitted with 18" blades it was awesome & with the sun out for a change it looked good. So now to my problem, Tangerine or NHB? My partener (soon to be wife in May 2009) is not into the Tangerine at all, me on the other hand I love it. Friends are trying to warn me off it to, but I am leaning either way. On one hand I want the Tangerine for me as it's different to what I see mainly on the roads, but on the other I want the black as it does look mean and the other half will most likely be more keen to drive the car. Help! Honest opinions please on your feelings. I know this has been brought up time & time again but what the hell lets hear it. I want to give the salesman my order tomorrow. I have attached a picture of my current car and the Civic I test drove. Thanks all. Ian Last edited by coolice : 1st April 2008 at 21:11. |

Yes get a red one, or failing that go for the NHB.
Your partner is right about the Tangerine. If you play your cards right you could convince her you wanted the Tangerine but are going for the NHB cos she likes it. ![]() |

![]() Im must admit the Civic is one of only a few cars which look good in Red, the Milano Red suits the Civic very nicely. Ian |

Yeah, I did consider not asking but I like a good debate plus we'll get some good, funny comments No ones said a bad word about the Pug yet though which I'm glad to see, must look reasonable in the company it's in. Ian |

Black will still be a very popular colour in 3 - 4 years time which will help when it comes to getting a good second hand price. Tangerine however may look very dated by then and be difficult to sell.
If it is a company car go with whatever YOU like best. You will be the one driving it every day |

Hi there,
I've got the same dilemma! Currently have a Alabaster Silver spaceship, but love the Tango. Seriously thinking about changing - am checking out finance, dealers, internet car dealers, the lot!! You're the one driving it, so never mind what everyone else thinks!! Good luck! |

I'm still waiting for mine in black. Nothing like seeing that baby down the road in black reflecting every last little street light as you pass by, and it does look awesome. Problem will be maintanence and embracing yourself for those scratches
P.S. I must add shampagne is also a nice colour, infact i saw my old car being driven by a woman in her 20's, brought a tear to my eye. Nothing like that first car |

Black is georgeous, but you have to keep it clean to look that way, red suffers the dirt more easily. Can't help thinking that I would be a bit dissappionted if I was in orange Civic and an orange ST pulled up next to me! Just my opinion, but I think Honda should have made the orange a bit more outrageous, still looks good though.

Go for a nearly new Vivid Blue, the colour that Tangerine replaced
And the sensible answer is I would go for the Tangerine WITH the Blades and the front splitter. That is as long as you can afford to take the loss on what you will get back for it when you sell it. Life is dull enough already, so bring some colour into your life. It also matches the colour of your drive |

ORDERED!!!!
Tangerine, with 18" Blades & spare wheel for now. Will add on image pack later. It was such a hard decision as my other half hates the colour and feels embarressed, but I truly hope it will grow on her as I truly love it. Black is awesome but I was worried about getting a few months down the road and the dark colour showing up any swirls or scratches in the paint, which in turn would have upset me. So I've gone Tango to be different and individual. Resale vaules who cares for now, deal with that later on if need be but for now atleast I will enjoy my new car when it comes. Projected around the 16th give or take a few days so thats good. Old Pug on Ebay to save a trade in maybe but we'll see. SO HAPPY & EXCITED!!!! Ian |

As I said above, have been making enquires about a tango, but in 5 door. Unfortunately it is a special order in 5 door and is quoted as a 20 week wait!!!!
Prob go for another colour now - will change to an EX soon. |
