Replacing glove compartment (discolorment)

Can it be done without making any scratches at all? My dealership has scratched my interior on previous encounters.

It does not look to difficult to replace, or is it?

Make your dealer agree with you on the condition of your dashboard before they start work.

Tell them based on their previous performances, you don't want anymore scratches. If they do scratch anything they will have to replace it.

The thing that can be scratched is erm yes the entire front...I think I'll faint if they need to replace that. I hate to sound a bore about small scratches but I hate them... Good idea though!

Just remember it's your property and they shouldn't damage it.

Glove box is easy to replace. 2 bolts at the bottom then un-latch and twist it as it comes out (from memory) so they should not have any difficulty. It is made easy to take out as Honda use this as the access panel for a whole host of things.

Any sensible joe would tape around the edge of the openign first to eb safe but apart from that no excuse for any damage what so ever.

Indeed when you pull it out, there is a chance you rub it against the inner side (by that I mean away from the door) of the interior. I believe the side that is closest by the door is the compartment itself. It looks easy enough and I've found no other pitfalls.

I feel like doing it myself. It will take three times as long but I am frantically careful . It's funny many of us here fear the dealers' craftmanship. Mine are always so busy it has certainly affected quality.

It's the handbrake fix that is a worry to me.
All that centre section coming off and thrown somewhere in the car, or the workshop floor.
Bet they use a 5lb club hammer, to remove those round plastic plugs, which hold it all in place, due to the time Honda will give them to fix each car.
I can remember when the dealership had to remove the whole dashboard from my Volvo,--- what a mess up that was.

Had my glovebox replaced after thick thieves broke in and thought that it was locked so tried to break into it (why they didn'tuse the handle to open it I don't know). The dealer (crown honda in Bushey) did a good job and replaced it without scratches

Hence the expression, 'as thick as thieves!'

Oh no... Just tell them to keep away from it. If you always park in gear, the chances are minimum that the car goes off alone. But if you must replace it you can do as many people advise here: show them the condition the car is in and do not accept damage done.
When do you suppose they'll fix it? Maybe you should post the outcome

I just got a call it's in. I'm going to tape it off myself and clearly indicate they must be careful whilst pointing out my car is free of sratches except those already there when I picked the car up... (some scuffs in the boot). Mindless criminals. I hope that was all they damaged!
