Actually its not a fault of the car if it does that, its called over revving which although the car hits the rev limiter it can still spin the engine as described by hondatech here Rev limiter = a valuable thing! introduced in the EP3 and it records a speed and rev indicator of when the fault occured it would seem, so if the engine failed then you would have a void warranty! Oh and you cannot over-rev the engine while in netural as the car stops it from going over 4000 rpm or something like that. Flyguy40 told me that the other night lol!

Actually I don't think the guy was saying that 'Just because i'm a woman' as he had a print out of the reading!!!!!! And thats when I told him again I was at 0mph and 0 rpm when the fault occured.

But back on subject, I'll not be doing that in a hurry again. It seems to be the battery draining that caused the issue or so it would seem. It also seems that if the SRS Airbag lights do eventually go off then its 'reset' itself and you don't have to take it to the dealers as they can only check the system when the light is still on! But the handbook tells you to get it checked and I thought I better cause of my long drive next weekend.

I also only drive my car once a week, sometimes it doesn't move for 3 weeks to a month and i've not turned the auto lights and wipers off although I do now have the wipers off as I don't want them going when i've got the rainx on the windscreen, but maybe I should switch the lights off? I've never had a problem starting it after this amount of time but maybe better to be safe than sorry

Donīt confuse rev limiter with top speed limiter.

If you leave your car unused for a long period and have problems with the battery draining, it may be worth connecting it up to a battery conditioner charger.

I use an Optimate charger for my bike over the winter and it keeps the battery in top condition. It comes with a plug in connector so once installed it is a 10 second job to plug it in and charge. It is also automatic so you can leave it charging all the time.

Do you use one though, because eventually, leaving it repeatedly for long periods, the battery won't hold a charge.

The optimate is supposed not to damage the battery if you leave it on for long periods - I have used it for years and had no problems. Some cheaper chargers are dangerous to leave on for long though !

Yes, it's an 'intelligent' charger, it monitors the charge in the battery and only trickle charges as and when needed once the battery is full.

Not sure if it is relevant in this discussion, but is worth noting that while sitting idle in the car with key in postion 2, the climate control does work.
I have had my battery run flat while playing with the Radio and Sat Nat for about an hour not realising the climate control fan running.
Next morning the dash lit up as normal, but could not turn the start-motor.
When sitting idle in the car, I now turn of the climate control completely to prevent this.

I save my battery power and condition by not sitting idle in my car. I have a house for this.

Ah, but sitting with the car idle wouldn't cause this cause the engine would be on, Yes? But sitting in the car with the ignition on, but engine off when you have to pick someone else up because their d**khead of an ex girlfriend has slashed all their tyres and poured paint stripper over their new merc and you sit waiting on them to shift their arse then when they get themselves outside they can't actually decide what to do now would cause a drain on the battery. But some of us actually have lives and do venture out the front door other than to go to work or shops!

What...is this dealer Hitler or something? Have you got a mobile?

Well God knows who he was. I Did have my mobile in my hand and actually started calling my mate, but the guy didn't want to know!.....But the dealership has just gone right down in my estimation. My Dad's mate took his CTR in for some work on Friday....picked it up (they always bring it to the door for you) got it home and discovered that someone has bashed his door in while its been there!

He is not happy, as anyone would not be. Can only but imagine what problems he is going to have with them now! And my Dad wondered why I wanted to wait on my car the other morning, for this very reason as there is no room to swing a cat in the car park!

I always take a quick look around my car after any service of when ever it goes in, you can't trust anybody. If it went in fine I'd expect it back fine, if the mechanic leaves it in the car park and its dented then as far as I'm concerned they are responsibile, they parked it there!

Snap! I had a few issues with things going wrong at BMW and I always make sure I go round the car before I leave. That way they can't say 'Wasn't us'

I saw a customer shout abuse at a salesmen before, they brought a brand new Peugoet at the Waltham Cross/Herts branch, and did nt check it properly when they left. The sales guy had parked it right up against a wall and had hidden a dent in the boot. Then when the customer got home and noticed it they went mad, they would nt of picked the car up if the had seen it at the beginning. I would of demanded another brand new car!
