[Questions] Going to buy 1.4 SE i-Shift next week

Finally decided on another Civic, think I will go for Tangerine Orange.

Currently have previous shape model which I still find more comfy seat-wise, would be interested to hear from other previous model owners about how quickly they adapted to the new models seats.

The i-Shift I drove today changed gears quickly, I had driven an Astra Auto earlier in the day, and the Civic's shifts didn't seem to slow in comparison.

Does anyone here have a 1.4 i-Shift? What has it been like?

Unless you need to keep your insurance costs down I would recommend going for the 1.8 rather than the 1.4. It is much quicker and I've found it's very good on fuel, plus you get all those nice little extras like alloys and the chrome exhausts for not much more cash.

Would definitely prefer the 1.8, but need another £700 for the Motability advance payment. As I am no longer able to work I really can't afford it.

Just making sure you weren't buying because you thought you were going to make some massive savings on fuel.

I've had a Seat Ibiza and Fiat Punto Sporting both with 1.2 engines and only managed to get about 2mpg more out of them compared with the 1.8 Civic.

I have had the 1.4se for two years now and find that I am getting 45-50 mpg providing the a/c is not on all the time. OK so it does not race from a standing start but hey who wants to be a boy racer ! The 1.4 is just fine.

Thumbs up

I had a Peugeot 206 1.1. Now i'm very pleased with my 1.4 Sport. Impressively i'm saving lot's of fuel in comparison with the 1.1 206!!!

In Portugal the fuel prices, taxes on the buy time, per year taxes and insurance costs made choose the 1.4 and not the 1.8.

The money saved there allowed me to buy some good extras.

Question to you 1.4 owners: Is the 1.4 noisy at higher revs, or is the car still reasonably quiet in 6th at 120 km/h (or 75 Mph)?

I have only sold one 1.4 i-Shift & it drove really well. My customers feedback is good so far. Its not as smooth as the 1.8 but a lot more user friendly as it does'nt jerk & rev its nuts off too bad

Good luck

ps do you local dealer discount cars on the advance payment list ??
