Got my Type R in July last year after replacing my 1.6 Focus and haven't regretted it since! In answer to your questions:

1) I get between 32-35mpg and around 300 miles to a tank each week on V-Power that costs me about £40-£50

2) Have 18" rims and have just had it's 12.5k service this week and fronts have 5mm still on them and rears even more.

3) Have Honda's 5yr service happiness, so service didn't cost me a penny (apart from the initial £500 outlay for 5 services)

4) 24 yrs old with insurance at £550 for the year.

Hope that helps!

Thanks to everyone for the replies.I have another question, sorry about this!

I live in a residentiel area, apartment building,so i park in communial residential parking next to the apartments. This may sound naive but how good is a 'cat1' alarm?when it says perimeter and interior alarm how does the perimeter alarm work?Just starting to worry about a car i have'nt ordered yet!!

I have just a normal alarm/immobilizer on the current car, never had no break ins etc.Theres only been one car broken into in the car park but they left valuables in the car.
I'm just concerned that a performance car like the civic will attract the wrong attention especially parked at night.
thank you.

Do it !

Festa.
Go for it and do not worry about "What ifs"

I agree with much of what Muppet said. I have also taken out the Servicing package as I intend to keep this car for a while.

Never leave anything on display in the car and you should hopefully be OK. Sensible precautions but remember, cars worth far more than 20K still get nicked.

Alarm / Immobiliser pretty good. Ensure you always double click!

nowadays who listens to an alarm going off anyway?
if you leave something in the car they would have broken the glass and got what they wanted before the neighbours curtains started to twitch. they know they can't nick the radio like the old days so will only go for something that is on show.

regarding the car being stolen, the old R or new R have never been stolen without the key , so keep your keys safe

i think you should be more worried about door dings and vandal scratches in a communal car park

Thank you to everyone for the advice.I think its going to be the civic TYPE R GT in alabastor silver, got a black car ar the moment, NEVER AGAIN!!it shows every scratch and chip.Going to stick with the standard '18' wheels not wanting the '19' rages.
Still concerned about security /vandalism but everyone keeps telling me to go for it.I've had astra SRI 2.0L on a 06 plate for the last couple of years and had no security/vandalism problems with that car.I think i'm just being over cautious .I always seen to worry when making a large purchase such as a car etc.

thanks to everyone again
