Congrats - I've been following this thread with interest but had nothing more to add than what was already there. But now I would just say that you should - right now - print off this whole thread and also make a written 'diary entry' to list everything that was said, by whom, when, etc so that if there's a 'problem' next week you have written it all down. Believe it or not this would be strong evidence for you if it ever got out of hand.
I would also write a letter (not email) to the dealership outlining everything they told you will happen so that there is no misunderstanding. It pays to be careful and as has already been said, the dealer is NOT on your side. |

I agree, many of my recordings with the dealer are recorded. And it is so helpful to refresh their memories (especially when I was told, oh sorry he's left us, and there is no record of you on our system..... Oh I'll just email the conversation we had last month to you, I'm sure that will outline most of what needs to be done......Oh I've just found you....Surprise!). LOL

I did get Honda finance out on my car and you always get screwed one way or another. I initially refused their loan as the interest rate was way too high. Then after haggling I managed to get a good rate, they will change the rate if you tell them that you'll go elsewhere. You still get stitched up with the fee.
I have now paid it off early within 6 months but it still cost me £600 which includes fees and interest. You must read the small print, as I can recall something about breaking the agreement will cost you thousands. Cant you get another loan and pay this one off straight away without paying the interest, you will of course loose the fees? You must of signed something with the rate on, I received a draft copy from the dealer at the time I signed for it? Last edited by cnicolini : 1st May 2008 at 13:51. |

I am a salesman and as such paid to earn not only myself but my dealership money. As far as i'm aware, that last time I looked we weren't a registered charity. HOWEVER, The industry has suffered for long enough with the image of shifty salesmen and couldn't give a toss staff and it has certainly got a hell of a lot better in the ten years or so i've been in it. There are right ways to do the job too and I have always followed the rule to treat the customer how I would expect to be treated if it were me walking in the door. I have been fortunate to make a fair few friends and aquaintances through my job over the years and would like to think that its through the way I have dealt with people. I have a fair few 'repeat' customers despite changing brands during those years so I must have done something right somewhere. Yeah great, make a killing out of one customer and never see em again. Hows about, do a good job, yes, make a FAIR profit and with any luck, see that customer again when they want to change, see their kids, family, colleagues and mates when they want to change because they feel comfortable that I have done the job well and given them the deal they are happy with.??? What is the likelihood of Kojak referring ANYONE to the dealership that he's got his car from?? no matter how great the car is. The sheer fact that the dealership in concern has caved in so quickly shows that they know they are in the wrong massively and wouldnt have a leg to stand on if it went further. Note to Pottsy - Hows about pinning this on one of the boards for future reference??? Last edited by NH Dan : 1st May 2008 at 14:05. |
