Well, I'll have to go in for warranty repairs next Tuesday. My boot won't open anymore and the problem is most likely a switch behind my nice 100% undamaged driver's side door. The other probable cause is the lock itself, which will require boot panels removed. With credits to this super forum to point out the most likely faults, as my dealer is unaware of any problems with the boot, let be solutions.
I've got no doubt in my mind they will be able to trace the cause as they are quite good in the technical area. There are also a few scuffs on my boot panels having been already present when I picked up my car. I only made a few small nearly invisible scratches pulling out the tire pump/repair kit. To add to my fear, my glove box will also be replaced as it is scratched and has discolored (on the inside). I'll tape off all edges near the glove box myself, to the best of my ability, to avoid damage. Now that I've spilled out my gut, would it be a good/normal I absolutely want my car back, fixed without the slightest scuff, scratch or grease spot. I've had to eat up my anger in the past as they fringed screwdrivers underneath panels chipping them at numerous places. The controls for the windows were even misaligned and were hanging about 0,5cm off. What do you guys think? Last edited by Jeroen1000; 7th May 2008 at 19:30. |

Jeroen1000....I feel your concern man , but maybe its better to point out those places to either the technician who will be working on your car or to the service manager. ....I dont think taking photos or getting them to sign anything is the way to go here , just make them aware ...And then check it over before you drive it away . I suppose I could do both. I'll talk to the manager and kindly ask the technician to be careful. It's just that they have a way of making you feel stupid about a small scratch waving it away.
I'll keep the pics as insurance or so |

You must take after me Jeroen, as I have always been a pain in the rear of dealerships, when it comes to insisting they look after my cars.
With the 3 new other honda's I have bought, they always ensured that the same guy worked on them, whether it be servicing, or working on the inside of the cars. I would suggest not wrapping it up at all, but making it absolutely clear to the Service Manager of any mishaps that are already on the car and if you find any additional, then you will require new panels completely at their expence. Also tell him that you would like to have him confirm this with the technician, in your presence. The ball is then completely in their court. |

Hi, Jack. You're not far off, as they pull up a wall for complaints after you get home.
With my previous car I had asked to replace the grey mini panels within the inner side interior door handles. To my amazement both door panels had been completely removed (hence it's a 5 min job to replace those mini panels) and they managed to damage the lock of the passenger's door. They, well the technician, thought the lock was faulty, which, if they had simply tried to lock the door, was obviously not the case. The technician was quite upset after a stern talking to from the service manager. But he has forgiven me I'll think I'll go with that approach and if needed prove my point. Jeroen1000....What i find worrying here is the complete incompetance of the technician ....You should not feel bad either about the STERN talk he gave the guy ...If that was me.... in light of your last post i would get the work needed undertaken ....CHECK EVERYTHING ...and then find if possible another dealer....The one your useing is employing a ...CHIMP ...These guys are supposed to go on courses and get diplomas to show there competance ....The writings on the wall man ....BIG LETTERS ....ON A STEEL HORSE I RIDE

Its the same old problem isn't it.
They are given every type of tool under the sun to do the job, but grab whats to hand. "A panel needs to be removed, O.K., so I will use this bleedin great screwdriver, to lever it off, the silly sod who owns the car won't notice". |
