[Questions] Buying a new Type-S

Hiya,

Can i join the club?

I've been looking round for a few weeks (nissan Qashqai, ford focus etc) and today i've just ordered a NHB 2.2 i-CTDi Type S - would have gone for the GT but even with the seat at the lowest position i could only sit in it with the sun roof cover open

. After a little haggle with a local dealer i managed to get it about a hundred under the what car price - £16150 (metalic paint, standard stuff - tank of gas, usual honda aa cover etc). Obviously no where near something like DriveTheDeal but i'm happy and impressed with the dealership/salespeople, any opinions on the deal? Supposedly i'll be picking it up on the 23rd - i'm assured this is being built and hasn't been standing grazing in a field somewhere! Seems pretty quick - i hope those robots are having a good day!

I didn't go for over carperts as i seem to be one of those people that attracts static shocks - anyone know what the honda rubber mats are like? Are they worth the premium or is it gonna be a halfords job? Also is the space saver spare wheel worth it? Anyone here got one/used one? I'm also going to replace the horn with something a bit more beefy, and maybe upgrade the beams - any good suggestions for these?

Anyway just wanted to say hello and pick your brains!

Hi and welcome. The Honda mats are good quality. In 36 years of driving I have never had a puncture but I have the space saver, you just don't know when your luck will run out. Best of luck with the Civic

be aware !!!
my drivers mat already has some serious wear on it where i have my clutch pedal. And this week, my foot was actually stuck in the mat (dont ask me how but it WAS stuck) , resulting in me rolling down the street with the clutch pressed in. NOT a nice feeling

Great choice of car.

I have the spacesaver, just to be on the safe side. The rubber Honda mats are really good quality and seem to be very hard wearing. I had them in my car over the winter and they are still like new.

I have the carpet ones back in it now for the summer.

May i suggest the dukes of hazard horn lol. Actually dont, dont think it would be cool having that going off from a spaceship, although could be quite trippy lol

Thanks for the nice welcome - 2 weeks sounded like a short time but it's dragging already due to the nice weather!

Thanks for the advice - i think i'll probably get a space saver. Is it possible to buy the rubber mats for the front and carpets for the rear? Or would i have to buy both complete sets?

As for the horn i found a nice loud train sounding horn but at £99 for one it's not cheap - and i couldn't find out for sure if they are 100% legal, so i'm waiting on a email. If you see a brand new NHB Type-S pass you by and hear a train - don't worry it's just me saying hi to a fellow civic driver

Holdcroft Honda ( Rubber Mats ) offered to sell me just the front rubber mats. I think you would need to buy a complete set of carpet ones though. To be honest the rubber ones look ok, so if you really want the front to be rubber I'd buy a set and have rubber in the back too.

Good Choice! I also picked the type S (NHB) for the extra headroom,although it was more to do with my preference for a raised driving position.8 months on and still well pleased with the car
