I forgot to service my car!

Confession time...

I cannot believe this but I've forgotten to service my 2.2 Civic

Six weeks after the first 12 month service was due, I suddenly realised what I had done and booked in straight in. Trouble is I'm going to have to wait until the 28th May for it to be done. That is 8 weeks after the due date.

I've done 9500 miles as well.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr. How bloody daft. I read this forum every day and can't believe what I've done (or failed to do).
No excuse apart from the fact that I didn't get a reminder from the dealer I bought the car from.

I'm mileage limited (I do lots of miles) and my dealer puts a little sticker at the top of the inside of the windscreen in front of the driver, with the mileage I need to do the next service at. Has proved to be very useful...

The Honda is the first car I have had for years without an electronic one (previous ones have been Vauxhalls and Renaults) I am surprised that there is no service reminder.

It has a feature that puts the heated rear window to warm the engine up quicker when it is cold, but no service reminder......

Do Honda dealers no longer send out service reminders ?

I never got a service reminder from Honda and I've still to receive any form of recall reminders.

I can possibly understand the HH service deals but I'm paying cash.

My dealers always send me a service reminder in the post. i think they may even have sent me a reminder by text last time.
Still takes me a few weeks to find the time to book it in though

I certainly always get a text after the service asking if everything is ok

When the sun shines on the dash, there is what appears to be a spanner, is this used? I've also noticed a light that looks like a "washer low" symbol on the dash in the bright sunlight. Perhaps this dash is used in other models which have these features? Maybe they're used and I've just never seen them, or perhaps they weren't sure about putting it in.

Adding a service reminder, surley is nothing more than a firmware upgrade, requiring not too much time to develop?

It seems there is no washer low indicator unfortunately.

Low washer fluid

Splie, has your dealer said that going over your service due date by two months won't affect your warranty.

Hopefully it won't, I suspect they would have told you if it did.

How can your dealer send a reminder when they dont know how many miles your doing? Or are they secretly tracking us all without us knowing????

Regardless of the mileage they need servicing every 12 months so they should send out the reminder every anniversary, in the age of computers it's not difficult.

And if you have the car serviced before the year is up then change the next reminder accordingly.

Have you got shares in the Post Office or something (granted I know we all have as it is a public company, but you know what I mean

The lady on the desk said there is a one month grace period but of course I will another month after that. In terms of warranty being affected, I am too frightened to ask!

I doubt that if you anything serious that needed warranty work that they would go into detail and check your servicing history.

The car presumably would be under 3 years old and it would just be done in the normal way.

They may check service history if it is engine related.

However, if they try to use it as a wriggle out for suspension problems (for example), I think you will have a strong case in your favour.
