Question Difference between ES and EX

Hi people,

I'm looking to get a new Civic hopefully in the next couple of weeks. Would someone be able to explain to me what the differences are between the ES and EX model please?

Doesn't the EX have HID's and Sat Nav?

Oh and Welcome!

See here - Civic - 5 Door - Civinfo Wiki

Oh and the EX now also comes with rear parking sensors as standard.

I would say that EX is a better option, if nothing else than for the wheels ( ES and SE wheels are pretty nasty looking)

EX comes with HIDs, 17" alloys, and sat-nav. ES doesn't, but does get the panoramic glass roof. The ES was a much better option for me. I already have a descent sat-nav and I don't care about the wheels too much. And passengers love the roof!
Both have auto lights and wipers, which is nice.

I've got the ES as well as I didn't think the price increase was justified by the few extras. The sat nav and voice commands in the EX I've heard are poor to say the least.

The only things I would have on the EX are the HIDs and the 17" alloys, although I've upgraded my standard Honda 16" alloys to Wolfrace 17" ones for just over £400 (included 4 alloys, 4 wheels and fitting!). And I love the panoramic roof.

Handsfree Bluetooth telephone system. (with SatNav)
Auto height adjustment for headlights.

I would have went for the Glass roof if it had of slid "Targa Top" stylie but as its fixed I was not so fussed.

It takes away from your headroom a bit plus I was a bit worried about it compromising the body shells structural rigidity (maybe unfounded).

Me too the fixed glass roof just seemed a pointless thing to me, now if it had opened.

Its not pointless at all.
It gives a large amount of light and has blinds fitted if you want it 'shut'. Well worth paying extra for IMO

I agree with Robbo, the glass roof is great, and the fact it doesn't open doesn't bother me. If I hadn't bought a Type S GT, I would probably have bought an ES for the glass roof.

Why would you want to open the glass roof , when you have aircon ?

Open sunroofs create horrible buffeting, ang the car has dual zone climate control, anyway!

I nearly didn't get the Civic because there was no opening sunroof. As it is I get mine next week and I went for the SE without the glass roof as I simply don't see the point in a glass roof that is fixed in place.

My current car has an opening sunroof and I will miss it terribly, especially with the weather being the way it is this week. Yes there is some buffeting but you can always tilt it instead of sliding it open. And as for the air con, well I'd rather breathe in fresh air anyday and I usually turn the air off when the roof is open. It's simply a more pleasant way to drive and if you can't get a convertible.......

I have an EX.

Really wanted HIDS, Cruise control, glass roof, 17" wheels, Bluetooth.

And the EX is the only one that has all of these!
