1st service is at 12,500 miles or 12 months old whatever comes first.

All service requirements are detailed in the service book in your bookpack, a bit boring realy but clearly explains what is done at each scheduled interval.

The only real add on I can give is that if you have a diesel, its a good idea to check on the oil levels fairly regularly....

It's not a bad question as here it is normal to have an oil change at around the 3000km mark. I had this with my Fabia and now my Civic!

With oil technology now being what it is, some manufacturers are extending their servicing schedules.

Citroen for example have some models where the schedule is 20,000 miles or 2 years.

(assuming it lasts that long )

Quick question!

iv got myself a type R a couple of months back and iv done around 4,000 on it. I don't know if i am being paranoid and it is just me but i feel that the car is running too hot ( no warning lights or obvious power differences ) but i have it in the back of my head that the car needs an oil change. The question is should i just flush the thing myself and top it up with new oil or should i take it down for servicing and expect an oil filter change as well?
this is my first type R so i am not very sure about servicing and what to expect from the car.

Some, well most dealers it would seem recommed a oil change after 6 months or 6000 miles I believe. I've not had this done as the car hardly moves but if you think it requires it then I would be asking the dealers how much they would charge. I know that my dealers offer is you only pay for the oil and the rest is free which is a good deal but if its going to cost a fortune and your confident with changing the oil yourself then I would change it myself

Just spoke to the service center, they are saying that the car is not due in till September and they would charge me around £100 labor for the oil change plus additional for the oil filter if i want that replaced as well. :s
