Made the case for petrol - deal done
After my last post - making the case for petrol - I have now closed the deal on a preowned 1.8ES. A lot of good advice from actual owners which was great - thanks. I teast drove a Civic for the first time and was impressed (rear vision aside - but I knew it was not going to be all that great). Scared myself the night before the deal by reading the departures board and a few unhappy souls - guess you will get this with whatever car some people own.
Pick it up next friday - again many thanks - will post my first impressions later the following week. |

Look at the satisfaction surveys, many more people are happy than not.
Some people do have genuine problems, others are just fussy. Enjoy your car! |

IMHO you've made an excellent choice.
Just looking at your previous thread - away for the last week so missed it: 40mpg on Motorway is easily achievable. Cruise Control: I'm a gadget freak and lived on CC for the first couple of months (even drove from Nottingham to Penrith - 182 miles - purely with my right thumb). Then it hit me that it's nowhere near as economical as your right foot. If I fill-up at 0 miles, I can always get 45.5ish litres in (45.46 is 10 Gallons), making it really easy to calculate actual economy - divide miles travelled since fill-up by 10. Good luck with the new car. |

Great choice, you'll get used to the restricted rear view, trust me.
Also as Clive has said I also find driving without the cruise control is more economical, it's a great gadget though. |

Not using CC is more economical, I can agree with that as it will keep the gas going to achieve that speed up hill and down hill too.
I hate cruise, it's all good going along at one speed but then you need to overtake but someone is passing you in the next lane. I all of a sudden get that "I'm not in control of the car" feeling, and sheeet I need to brake, as I can't lift off. |
