If your going for new start with autoebid.com, autobytel.com, drivethedeal.com as these supply to main dealer, you could use these prices to haggle with your local dealer like I did

Personally autotrader I feel is not great for looking for used as alot of people overprice and they dont sell - but give it a try, there are a few bargains to be had!

For used less than 3 years old I would always buy private e.g ebay etc as dealers inflate prices almost to the extent that a new one can be had cheaper!

The best thing is if you want a new one, let the dealer know your serious and if he offers the right price you have your credit card (show it) to order! then watch his face light up

hope this helps

I used Autobytel, got a great deal, but had to pick my car up from Southend On Sea. 4 months ago now and no problems, touching wood.

Is there something like car brokers in UK? They're getting popular in Poland. They buy cars for lower prices in other european countries and sell them in Poland. You can have a car for even 20% less.

Yes, we have importers etc but ive looked into it and after paying vat for importing and factoring lesser resale value I think it isnt worth it. 20% sounds unachievable for a civic, if it was citroen fair enough - they practically give that rubbish away!

Best way to get the price down is to get a few quotes and haggle for discount / extras. Your nearest main dealer may be prepared to match or at least get closer to your best quote online.
