Discontinued Model ????

Hi Guys, has anybody heard this ?

I have been told this evening by a dealer in Bournemouth that Honda stopped making the Diesel Sport in February !!!

Sounds like a bit of bully to me as this is the car I am looking to buy this month and I have been speaking to a number of dealers and nobody has mentioned it.

He said that any car I am offered would be an old stock car made prior to Feb.

The guy is a friend of a friend of the wifes and then tried to sell us an ES

Just cant believe it but thought I would post the question

Steve

But aren't all the Type R cars etc only available in 3 doors ? I have to have a 5 door.

Isn't it only a maybe and with the current price of diesel and the residules on diesel cars falling quite a fair bit each month I really can't see it happening now.

Don't worry Steve if there was to be a Type R diesel it won't be for a few years and it wouldn't explain why they would stop making just the Sport 5 door diesel and not the others.

I would give some of the dealers on the site a wee nudge and see what they have to say on the matter. It does sound to me as if he was telling you that so you would buy a higher priced model or one that he has in stock.

I've not seen NHDan about recently, he would be able to clear this up in a flash

Honda is planning to build a diesel-powered Civic Type-R according to the company's top powertrain engineer, Kenichi Nagahiro.
"As long as it is in keeping with the Type-R brand we will do it," he told Autocar. "But high revving has to be part of it and that's what we're working on."
A Civic Type-R D is likely to be powered by the most powerful version of next year's new 2.2-litre diesel, which will be launched in the new Accord.
It's likely to have at least 180bhp and a massive 320lb ft of torque.

Yes, there are some bits of information floating around about a possible diesel "R".

However, I doubt this has much to do with that they may or may not have discontinued the "Sport" spec level on diesels in the UK.

I suggest you call a couple of other dealers and ask about the "Sport" spec on diesels.

As said previously in the thread, this is the first we are hearing of it.

Planning nd working on and seen as the Accord has just been released you can bet your bottom dollar the engine won't be being put into a Civic just yet. Also as I've pointed out the residules on Diesels is rather crap at the moment due to the issues with the price of diesel and you may find that due to this people change from diesel especially ones where they ain't going to get better miles for their money to petrol or hybrid and if this does happen then Honda will probably shelve the idea........if people ain't buying then they won't sell, so won't make. Plus you can chip a 2.2 to 192bhp so they have to go some and improve the bhp in that one

Could be poppy ****, but thinking back when I got mine in April 2008 the sales guy did say they were going to make one ……… wasn’t listening properly (had images of MY CTR in my head). Didn’t think about it until now...AutoCar are usually on the ball with things like this

He said he was looking for a 5 door...so I presume it is the 5 door in "Sport" spec level.

Funnily enough there is a 5 door called the Sport, whereas the three door is the Type S

Nobody knows what the future holds and all I have actually seen from Honda (apart from the new Jazz and the Accord) is their Hybrids which is what they seem to be gearing towards and due to the current climate it seems to be sooner rather than later.

Until there is something solid from Honda with spec, facts and figures then its all just a dream for them. Ford ain't making a Diesel ST because the Mondeo engine they would have used doesn't fit under the bonnet and it seems unlikely that other manufactures are going to make diesel 'Hot' hatches so I think Honda may find themselves keeping this idea as just that an idea.

G.M. are closing plants in the U.S., making S.U.V's etc. Good job too in M.O.
And isn't it strange that Brown and his oil finding buddies, have just decided that there is enough of the stuff still in the North Sea, to last us another 10 - 15 years.
Just in time for the G.E. in two years time.

You said dealer in Bournemouth - honda charminster road?

If so, I'm surprised as when I got my car I was looking at their computer screens showing what was available.

As others have said contact a dealer on here.
