So what did you drive before? Seen as you seemed to have a little issue with the price you were being quoted. I'm guessing it was something less powerfull and a lower insurance group

Just looking at renewing my insurance, I am currently with Privaledge but they want £593.00 this year . This is a big hike and my details havnt changed.
Two comparison site have Swiftcover and Bell with savings of £200 and £170 respectively.

Does anybody have any experiance of these companies and would they recommend them?

Cheers.

I was insured with Swiftcover last year and found it very good how I could amend and view my policy online.

I didn't need to make a claim though, and as you know that's when you find out how good or bad they are.

Question

Yeah, I know what you mean.
Priviledge have been really good and dealt with my porevious claims with no fuss at all. But when you can get the same cover for £200.00 less you do wonder if somebody is not taking you for a ride.

You get what you pay for

About 3 years ago I was insured with the Halifax and when involved in an accident I just informed the insurance company and they delt with everything from arranging the repair, the hire car and the dispute - phoned me up once in a while for more information or to let me know how things were getting on. (basically they were interested in recovering any loses)

Around the same time, the better half had an accident on the motorway where are car rear ended her (mmmm - no puns). She had to arrange repairs, the insurance company would arrange a hire car but she would have to pay for it until the dispute was settled (yes the other driver said she was to blame - even though he hit her from behind) and she had to keep chasing the insurance company - her insurance company wanted a knock-4-knock because it was easy for them. She didn't want that, obviously, so she had to insist the insurance company took it further - she had to supply a solicitor and instigate legal proceeding until eventually the other guys insurance backed down - basically admitting liability.

The only difference is that she has me as a second driver and I have her - she pays £100 less than me.

So like has already been said - you don't know how good your insurance company are until you have an accident - especially if its not your fault.

i had a 1.6 astra before this, it increased by about 80 quid with my insurance company when i quoted it online, which is fair enough, but i have never had a quote for over 3k on this one from a price comparison website.
