Servicing confusion
I know I'm better off asking a tech, but people here might know.
I'm having my 1yr old (now) Civic serviced at 3,500 miles. I'm likely going to do at least 12,500 miles within the next year, prob 15,000 So do I get it serviced... at 12,500 miles at 16,000 miles (12,500 miles from now) or in 1 year? Then again when do I get it done? I'm guessing at 16,000 miles and 28,500 miles myself. But then it'll have it's 25,000 mile service at 16k and 37.5 service at 28.5k - is that going to confuse things or is it Service 1, Service 2, Service 3? |

You need to get it serviced now and then in 12,500 miles or 12 months time whichever comes first.
Services are at 12 month, or 12,500 mile intervals. |

Yes, I am getting it serviced now (3,500 miles)
I WILL do more than 12,500 miles in the next year, so should I have the 2nd service at 16,000 miles? |

Yes. Your second service will be due at 16,000 miles, if that does arrive before 12 months from this first service have elapsed. |

Donīt leave the service intervals longer than specified by Honda.
It is not good for the car and can invalidate your warranty. |

I would get something in writting from the dealer and Honda UK advising that you will not invalidate your warranty if you get it serviced at 16000 miles as they do state 12500 miles and it would just be like Honda to turn round and said it void because you've not followed their advice.

Sorry forgot that the car is already a year old.
Yeah you will have to get it done at 16000 miles. If however its less than this and you only do 7000 for instance, you'll need to get it done in a years time. This is the same for me, My car will be serviced at its year interval but if I somehow decide to do more than 12500 miles next year then I wouldb have to get the car serviced whenever I reached 12500 miles from the last service Last edited by angie4m; 18th June 2008 at 08:35. |

Cheers. The only way it will do under is if I change job (unlikely but possible)
I knew it was either 12,500, 25,000, 37,500 etc OR after 1yr, 2yrs, 3yrs, etc. But I was a bit confused about it going from really low mileage to really high mileage. Was just making sure that it didn't need doing at them miles anyway. So cheers everyone, definitely clear in my head now! |
